Definitely Eau Sauvage. Without a doubt.
I think Rive Gauche would fit him.
Tabarome is what I see.
If we're sticking with the time line Chanel Pour Monsieur seem's a likely candidate.

You have to keep in mind that Don Draper is a fake with a stolen identity, no education to speak of, from a very lower class and deprived upbringing, who has pretty much made himself up from scratch. Nobody taught him how to be sophisticated and he sometimes makes mistakes in taste and class. He works with pretty conservative clients in a really tough business. He drives a Cadillac at a time when it was considered a pimpmobile by sophisticated types (who drove Mercedes by the later 60s). He is willing to be seen at the Playboy Club and he likes California hot rods. So he would not wear in public any woman's fragrance or anything avant-garde or too edgy, something fairly mainstream by 21st century BN standards. And obviously he wouldn't wear scents created in the 1980s or 90s and certainly not in the 21st century when he would be in his 70s and 80s. My guess would be Canoe, possibly Aramis (new and hip in his era), English Leather, or even Old Spice (considered very chic in the '60s) if Canoe seemed too Frenchified. Pour Monsieur or Eau Sauvage is just possible if a lady friend picked it up for him in Paris.
Don Draper is probably sporting New West.
New West=1988 but I can see Draper landing the Aramis account (line launched in 1966) from Estee Lauder, who was another basically made-up person with a fake name and an overwhelming drive to make it. They would have seen eye to eye. Then Don could have been the inspiration for New West years later...
Are you asking what a modern day Don Draper would wear, or what Don Draper would have worn in his era? It's a neat question either way. Don Draper, today? Rive Gauche does sound appropriate. Don Draper in the 1960s... I'll echo the superb comment above by BurgundyMarsh. Old Spice?
Don Draper could not exist in 2012! Too Old School, too sexist, and too much of a cad. And he doesn't know how to type.
I would think that he reeks of Old Fashioned by Bourbon Whiskey.
Brut & Aramis do they still make Aramis?
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world, the unreasonable man adapts the world to himself, therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man." "Shaw"
I have several ideas about this one but I would like to hear the valued opinions from my fellow BN's.

It has to be something simple and respectable. I agree with Old Spice. By the way, he is gorgeous.
Then? Old Spice.
Today? Eau Sauvage.

vintage Guerlain Habit Rouge (released 1965)
Probably Caron Pour Homme
Probably a mixture of tobacco, martinis, and starch.
Maybe also something along the lines of Paco Rabanne pour Homme or Versace l'Homme.
I believe they have brought up Eau Sauvage on the show at one point or another, though it wasn't introduced until what would be the latter part of the series.
Joan wears Shalimar.
I think that today Don Draper might wear Egoiste, Tobacco Vanille or Bois du Portugal.
I'm selling internationally Opium homme EDP
Check out my selling list:
Chanel Pour Monsieur.
Frank No. 2 Los Angeles
Eau Sauvage, Chanel For Men. An old Guerlain or two. Dunhill names might be a little too recent.
I'd imagine Old Spice as well.
If he was to go for a designer frag, probably something from Chanel... maybe Cuir de Russie?

Something not worn by just every man, with some snob appeal — something like Fougère Royale.
Since it was discontinued in the 50's, maybe he managed to go through a bottle of two.

brut, canoe, english leather, english leather lime...or just some aftershave like aqua velva.
I imagine he would smell of cigarettes and alcohol mainly, but there would be a little something lurking under those scents. A manly, spicy scent. Not sure quite what though...
If they had been around in the 1960's I would say Green Irish Tweed or Bois Du Portugal.
Brooks Brothers 1818. the smell of "old money".
Creed Original Vetiver
I wonder what JASON from TRUE BLOOD would wear..... He is also gorgeous.
Don Draper would have NEVER worn anything even remotely related to the current trends in frangrance. He is a man, historically, before REAL MEN (VETS) bought such things.

Rive gauche or chergui.
1. Old Spice
3. Hooker Spit (his favorite)
Well, as of last week's episode we now have confirmation that Don Draper "sure does smell good," according to Pete Campbell. It's now 1969 . . . what do we think he's wearing these days? Also, what do we think Lou had his secretary buy for his wife from Saks? Shalimar is probably a safe bet. Could anyone identify any of the bottles on Megan's dresser? . . . there were quite of few of them.
Old Spice seems most reasonable to me- just something simple and classic, you know, like English Leather, maybe Pinaud's Clubman. But later, as he gets more wealthy, maybe Aqua di Parma, Aramis, or Lagerfeld. Nothing super expensive or ostentatious. He's pretty conservative. I am trying to picture what one would see if they opened up his medicine cabinet.
The"What would he/she wear" threads belong in the Fragrance Game forum, so I'm moving it there.

Whatever it was, he must have been using it in enormous amounts in order to cover the scents of all the women he slept with from his wives
Something that cuts through all the cigarette smoke. Definitely some sort of fougere or maybe even a chypre. Brut or Eau Sauvage perhaps?
Nice-- jarrodrocks- maybe the old school original, Fougère Royale. The bottle would not look out of place on the bathroom shelf in his fancy New York apt. Actually, dang, I think you are spot on... Brut in the first seasons, and Eau Sauvage in the late seasons.

I remember in the first season some of the girls were talking about the one guy that does all the artwork for the agency. They were talking about his cologne. They said he wore a different fragrance then the rest of the guys at work. They said it smelled French if I remember correctly. Probably a Guerlain if I had to guess.
