Work, guerlain l instant extreme
Citrus, eau sauvage
Going out, Armani code
Since I'm pretty much just starting out, I want to see how everyone CATEGORIZES their fragrances and which fragrances they'd give the top spot for each category.
- Create ANY 5 categories that suit your fragrance wearing needs: (Ex: Work Fragrance, Summer Fragrance, citrus, etc.)
- Pick your favorite fragrance for each category
- Designer only
- Still available for purchase
- List your age for reference
Please feel free to give a brief explanation on your categories and/or fragrance picks.

Going out, Armani code
Fall/Winter Work: Terre d'Hermes
Spring/Summer Work: Givenchy Play Sport
Fall/Winter Casual: CH Men
Spring/Summer Casual: Dior Homme Sport
Versatile Year Round: Bleu De Chanel tied w/ Gucci Pour Homme II
If I were to add one more category it would be Romantic, and Dior Homme Intense would get the nod.
Based on current formulations only, I would go with these 5:
Peppery: Tzora by Anat Fritz
Cedar: Anat Fritz by Anat Fritz
Vetiver: Vetyver by L'Occitaine
Citrus/Chypre: Monsieur de Givenchy by Givenchy
Floral: JHL by Aramis
Honorable mention to Terre d'Hermès that only misses the cut due to it being similar to Tzora.

Spring - Gucci pour homme II
Summer - Chanel Allure edition Blanche
Autumn - Gucci pour homme II
Winter - Gucci pour homme II
Evening - Dior Homme Intense
My age: 36
- Gucci Pour Homme II
- Dior Homme
- Paco Rabanne 1 Million
- Thierry Mugler Angel Men
- Chanel Platinum Egoiste
In addition, Le Male, Spicebomb, La Nuit, YSL L'Homme, Versace Friache, Dior Sport, London and others.
All of these are incredibly sexy and alluring, so that's an instant requirement (lasting longevity is another), but in terms of categories for how I feel they would be useful for me, here goes:
- All Around Versatile Fragrance that is suitable Office/Work environment, as well as other occasions and is Liked By Just About Anyone (Very Sexy, Very Alluring, Very Unique Too, smoky, mysterious grapefruit): Bleu de Chanel
- Fragrance to Wear When It's Very Warm While Still Being Sexy and Deep: Dior Aqua Fahrenheit
- Fragrance to Wear To Penetrate Through the Coldest Weather Or Make You Feel "Warm" or Remind You of Holiday Season: Thierry Mugler Pure Havane
- The "Sexiest" Fragrance (or something that I want girls to remember me by, or use for dates, or wear when I generally go out quite frankly to make a sensual impression): Dior Homme Intense. This is the greatest fragrance of all time as far as I am concerned, it encapsulates all that is good in a bottle, and perfect for me. My holy grail! Best part is on it works amazing on my skin, and it just smells incredible.
- A Vanilla Fragrance (my favorite note, and these tend to be louder and last more): Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male (can use this for clubbing, for casual wear around buddies, around girls, for just everyday scent, I mean it's awesome, everyone loves this stuff, very pleasant vanilla cloud)
I am 22 (about to be 23 in July) years old

I'm 38 years old.
I'd get the following:
Ralph Lauren Polo
I really don't classify my scents according to purpose or whatever, and I'd certainly consider the above versatile enought for most circumstances.
Im 20 y/o
Both wet and dry season
- LL L'eau au Masculin.
- Pure Havane.
and occasionally, Encre Noire.
"Out of all your fragrances, my favorite scent is your body scent." - GF :$
My proposed fragrance categories:
Conservative/modern-classic citrus: Armani Eau pour Homme
"Barbershop style": obviously Rive Gauche
Slightly unusual and uncommon, yet classy EDP: TDH Parfum
Powerhouse "with a twist": Esencia Loewe, identifying both powerhouse and darker, edgier, almost slightly Goth male floral elements in this one.
Very hot weather: Guerlain Homme L'eau
Hot weather: Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit
Cool Weather/Night: Lalique Encre Noir
Work: Terre d'Hermès
Date: Gucci PHII
If I could pick only 5 designers, these would be my picks:
Terre D'Hermés EDP
Thierry Mugler Pure Malt
Claus The Danish Viking
Eau de Rochas pour Homme (Citrus)
Ungaro III (Aromatic Green)
Chanel Antaeus (Woody Chypre)
Gendarme by Gendarme (Aromatic Green)
Drakkar Noir (Aromatic Fougere)
Plus pure Iso E Super diluted to EDT strength to give body/for layering
"Le parfum est la musique du corps"
Signature: Amouage Memoir Man “vintage” (Karine Vinchon-Spehner, 2010)
Current top fragrances:
Ungaro III [1st formulation "Made in France" ] (Jaques Polge/Francois Demachy, 1993)
Narciso Rodriguez For Him (Francis Kurkdjian, 2007)
Rochas Macassar (Nicolas Mamounas / Roger Pellegrino, 1980)

Vetiver: Hermes Terre de Hermes
Floral: Aramis 900

I'm 50....my 5 top pick:
Chanel Homme Edition Blanche
Kenneth Cole Black
I'd pick up the entire Dior Homme line. Problem solved.

Terre d'Hermés (for normal use)
Dior Homme (for work)
Encre Noire (for the times between cold and hot)
Mugler Cologne (for the extreme heat)
"The stench / The stench / Of summer sex / And CK Eternity, oh hell yes"
-Fall Out Boy, "Uma Thurman"
Hot weather Hermes Eau Orange Vert
Warm weather Gianfranco Ferré Bergamotto Marino
Cold weather Chanel Egoïste (original)
Warm weather Dior Homme Intense
Cold weather Bvlgari Black
For age, let's just say young.
Work: Attimo Pour Homme- Salvatore Ferragamo (I know this one is relatively unheard of here on BN but hear me out, its fairly conservative and easily wearable in any season, it won't offend anybody, and it actually smells pretty high quality, so for a work frag this gets the job done and then some)
Date: La Nuit De L'Homme- YSL
Summer Casual: Chanel Allure Homme Sport eau Extreme
Winter Casual: Midnight In Paris- Van Cleef and Arpels
All Around: Pure Havane- Thierry Mugler (You'd be surprised, for an A*Man flanker this does surprisingly well in warm weather)
I'd also throw in M7 Oud Absolu by YSL since it can be had for $60 and I think everyone deserves an oud of some kind. This isn't Oud dominant but it's very VERY wearable IMO, would be a contender for all situations outside of summer days
Current Top 10:
1. Leather Oud- Dior
2. Black Aoud- Montale
3. M7 Oud Absolu- YSL (I really REALLY like oud)
4. Green Irish Tweed- Creed
5. Cuir de Russie- Chanel
6. Straight to Heaven- By Kilian
7. Aventus- Creed
8. Pure Havane- Theirry Mugler
9. Shalimar EdP- Guerlain
10.Body Kouros- YSL
If i need to start over again, i'll go straight to what i consider the fragrance house quartet (Chanel / Dior / Guerlain / Hermes)...

Guerlain's Mouchoir de Monsieur

Work: YSL L'homme
Clubbing: YSL La Nuit De L'homme
Winter casual: Terre D'Hermes
Summer casual: Chanel Bleu
General useful all round safe: Davidoff Cool Waterl
I cant do 5 but will do 6 categories:
Signature - Gucci PH II - versatile scent that is "me in bottle", scent that I would wear to work for majority of time
Spray and forget - Guerlain Homme L Eau - easy to wear, light scent that's never too much even if its super hot outside
Feel good - Dior Homme Intense - scent that I wear only for my own enjoyment whenever I want to feel better, before sleep etc.
High class - Dior Homme - scent that I would wear in suit and tie
Versatile cold weather - L Instant Guerlain Extreme - easy to wear winter scent with touch of sophistication
Macho - Fahrenheit - When I feel like everybody can kiss my a**
L'Eau D'Issey (All purpose-fresh): First bought this almost a decade ago, and it's still one of my favorite fragrances.
Azzaro PH: All Purpose, classic style: Perfect for all seasons, timeless
Leather Oud: Romantic Hard to find a good and funky oud scent in the designer world, but this fits the bill and has grown on me to become a favorite
Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin: Gourmand: The only even remotely powdery scent I can stand...love this one.
Dior Homme Intense: Evening wear Beautiful and soothing
All year versatile scent:
Gucci Pour Homme II: Wear any time, comfort scent, works for all occasion.
Warm weather day scent:
Bleu de Chanel: Probably also a all year vesatile scent. This and GPHII could switch spots really.
Warm weather night scent:
Pure Malt: If its too hot for that, I'll just wear Bleu or GPHII... but I think PM is ok for warm days too.
Cold weather day scent:
Burberry London: Great inoffensive, nice, mature, festive cold weather work scent. Works well at night too but great for day because its not sweet or too sexy but smells wonderful at the same time.
Cold weather night scent:
Dior Homme Intense: Just an alternative to pure malt... little more alluring.
I'm 23 and I think these are all great scents for younger crowd, and these would probably be in my first 5 designers to keep from my current collection.
Work: Terre D' Hermes
Club & Parties: Aventus
Summer: Virgin Island Water
Winter: Pure Havane
Signature: Dior Homme Intense
