There may be a need, from time to time, to discuss something on OFF TOPIC.

Isn't this whole thread off topic? It's not about fragrances

Removing the off topic forum seems silly. Then again, putting all of that effort into moving over to huddler only to bail on it and switch back a few months later seems silly too. It's good to be back though. Huddler sites aren't very good.

    It's news &/or announcement

Happy you're thinking it's good to be back, 'though!

Did the forums really lose 5 months worth of content? It looks like everything from May 25th through yesterday is gone.

It's O.K. - it's not lost - it's being transferred now that we've moved, so it should be fine soon!
The transfer will also slow down the site a little until complete.

It's not lost, it's not here at present. All the data will be imported, and you can find a rough-and-ready version of a most of the threads from the last 6 months on these pages here http://www.basenotes.net/huddlerarchive/ -- which although they can't be responded to, may be useful for reference.

Hi Grant i can not see some posts of mine ....
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    This is not Kansas, Toto..

I will miss the Off Topic Board. Man, or woman for that matter, does not live by fragrance alone. Now I must go off-site to take a break and to other forums to read/share interesting non-fragrance things.

I will have to spread my wings elsewhere from time to time. Oh well..

Roberto - do you mean posts since transferring back from Huddler, or Huddler posts please?
Huddler ones should turn up in due course.

Hi, its hardly a matter of significance, but I notice that the new blog has demoted me to Newb status. My first post this evening is listed as my first post, ever. Perhaps at my age I should welcome any opportunity to turn back the clock. Will my post count under the new/old system be added to that in the old/new?

Honestly, this really sobers me to just how crappy the site looked before the visual upgrade to the new one we had the last few months. Nothing against the site personally, as I know things were done for a reason, but I feel like it's 2002 on basenotes now.

I do like the like and objection buttons though.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I loved the previous board as it was fresh, fast, and fast lol. However, I feel this is fashion backward. In any case, I'm glad you're all back! You don't realize how much this is a part of our day until it's gone and whatever is decided I support to the fullest and wish well, so cheers mates!

Agreed, I was having Basenotes withdrawal. lol

Just when I was getting used to the Huddler site, we get switched back. I think I can get used to this version now as well. I do agree with an earlier post that the look & feel of the site seems old school again. However, it does seem more homely and the design is more fragrance-centric, which is good .

The Huddler site was quicker, but hopefully this site will be quicker again. One thing I do miss was that in the Huddler site, the avatar image quality was much better than the current one. It seems like the avatars are pixelated again. Not sure if this can be improved in a future enhancement.

Back to Basenotes Green ! Back to frags - a good thing. Thanks- the site is working fine for me apart from the missing this and that which will be restored, no doubt.

I'm happy to be back online with BN - first and foremost. Like returning to my wardrobe, signature, blog, and AUTO-SAVE. It's a bit slow, but I'm OK with that. Looking forward to some new things that couldn't be done at Huddler.

THANK YOU GRANT, DANI, JUDITH, AND ESPECIALLY OUR GEEKY CAT, BASENOTES DUDE!

    I agree.

The new forum looked better and it felt faster.
Now load times are sloooooooow again.

Why go back to the 90's web design wise again ?
    It feels slow
    The search engine is slow
The design looks so 1996, and not in a good way

    Sorry just my honest opinion.

I agree with Claus,to me it's a retrograde step,I think it looks terribly dated.
Will the "off topic" be making an appearance.?
