    Default Tired of no-long-lasting fragrances

    Hello everyone!

As the title of my thread says, I am tired of no-long-lasting frags.
I really love John Varvatos Original and Burberry London. Those two frags are amazing to me, but they last max two hours. I am tired of that. Occasionally I use Paco Rabanne - 1 Million and this frag always surprise me with its longevity. I would like to post some alternatives for me, fragrances that last sooo long and are pleasant and non offensive.

    Thanks a lot!

If I understand your post correctly, you would like suggestions of fragrances that last long? Attar by Montale is one that has killer longevity.

thanks guys. I dont want "killer longevity" fragrances,I want something sophisticated, long lasting, but not offensive. For me, 1 million is lasting too long, but itīs offensive in some way for me. I was thinking about something fresh but suitable for winter too. Those fragrances iÍ mentioned are sweet, I guess suitable for winter. But I would like to try something fresh, long lasting, suitable for winter and spring/summer too...

In that case, perhaps Toujours Fidele by Fragonard, not sweet has fine longevity and can be worn in spring/summer as well as in winter.

    Possible other testing suggestions:

    Dior DHI
    Solo Loewe Intense
Chanel pour Monsieur Concentree (this one more on the classic side)
    TDH Parfum
Boucheron pour Homme EDP (also strongly on the classic side, lasting well, but doing so with sophistication and without offensiveness)

Just to clarify so we can all avoid the ones you dislike, what do 65 year old gentlemen smell like exactly?

I second Montale Attar - longevity is very good, based on your skin type - i get 8-10 hrs only.

However, you should try some other powerhouses - a very gd cheap spicy vanilla is Ted Lapidus Pour Lui - very gd longevity & well worth the price & quite versatile, can be used all yr around. Very under-rated perfume imho...

Varvatos and London are both gorgeous scents, but yes, they do fail in longevity for a lot of people. I own both of these fragrances, and adore them as well as you do. you may wanna check out CK One Shock, as it is on the style of John Varvatos, they do not smell alike but ya know.. dark mysterious, sensual, is what I mean. Shocks lasts a good 8+ hours.

I apply three sprays od the neck - thatīs all. Smetimes I spray once on the shirt, but it makes no difference. Yes, I can smell it on the next day if I put the shirt so close to my face, but, in general, it doesnt help.

I really love both of them, but maybe I would like something little more different (if you said that CK One Shock smells similar to varvatos, but sure, I will at least try this one

Suggest Bleu De Chanel...non offensive, long lasting incense vibe that smells great and has above average longevity.

I could mention an array of frags that give great sustaining scent, but you didn't mention a budget or what, as frag you just mention are lower tier, not that there's nothing wrong with that, as upper expensive niches sometimes lack even worse on longevity bar line: nevertheless TL by TF is a beast on me but on you it might be a semi-normal is a subjective question. IMHO , you have to sample al kinds of scents and see which one interacts on you as chemistry on your skin allows...best success on finding thee ones the do good by you...Trsting testing= empirical evidence only your skin will tell you by sampling.....Cheerios

and killer sillage , the formulation I have at least. I find Attar more tenacious than Black Aoud.

There are many Montales (even the supposed reformulated ones or watered down ones) that last 14 - 16 hours on my skin. When I spray on my clothes. I can easily smell them the 24h+

Some have been mentioned here. I'll suggest Aoud Ambre.

This is what I would suggest. If there's a Sephora nearby, go down there and ask for a few samples of the colognes that the folks here at Basenotes have suggested and give them a try. At the end of the day you have to try them on your skin, and who knows, you might be surprised at what you end up liking. I used to hate Kouros, becasuse every time I smelled it on a tester strip it reminded me of a urinal cake, but after deciding that I wanted it in my collection anyways, I bought it and tried it on, and lo and behold, on my skin it smells wonderful once it dries down. Same thing for Yves Saint Laurent Pour homme and Drakkar. That, and it's kind of cool to go to beat of your own drummer. I also recommend Cartier Pasha, that cologne is a work of art and one of my favorites; and if one of the girl's at my work can pull it off,

Sounds like creed aventus may be right up your alley. Fresh, sophisticated, good sillage and projection, age appropriate and works well in warm and cold weather.

I actually prefer this scent in colder weather. On me, in warmer circumstances, it becomes some what cloying and sickly.

Lol @ Dior Homme smelling like an old university professor. If that's the case maybe you might dig something like Victoria's Secret Isle of Pink?

But in all seriousness, if you enjoy John Varvatos and Burberry London, it's time to sample their pricier kissing cousins Serge Lutens Daim Blond (apricot suede) and Five O Clock au Gingembre (spiced gingerbread).

Chanel Egoiste is a good one with great longevity but doesn't project too loud.
Also LIDG falls into this category for me.
