    Default How is work progressing?

    Hello Grant and team

Thanks for all your hard work in trying to manage the switchover.

Are you able to give an update on how the migration is progressing and when it might be completed? I'm thinking particularly of missing posts, reviews and PMs.

The site is running really s l o w l y for me right now, and I expect for many other people too. Having to wait 10 seconds for every page to load is really killing the experience for me at the moment, I have to say - so any reassurance that the site will be back to normal before too long would be gratefully received.

I have noticed that, the last time looked, the DIY Forum has yet to be updated. Any idea when it will be? Also, will it be possible to go directly to the last post in a Forum, rather than trawling through all of them to get to the final comment. I found this facility very useful.

Missing posts and PMs are especially what I miss from the non-converted data as of yet. It's hard to pick up a conversation that happened six months ago. All in time I guess.

Indeed, but I am prone to believe that they are pondering on it.

@lpp - I know you'll see this - please also change the pic of La Nuit de L'Homme YSL, the one on the Huddler after the change was great XD

    Pics that need attention:

    Azzaro Boarding

    YSL La Nuit de L'Homme

    L'essence de Cerruti

Brit New Year Edition 2010 (Burberry Brit : Limited Edition for Men (2010) directory name)

David - there is a temporary Huddler Archive with some of the info. here.
There's a link in the main Forum view page.
This may initially load more slowly than other pages here.

    http://www.basenotes.net/huddlerarchive/

We are able to alter thread display so that the newest post is shown at the top of each page - in 'Settings' - 'General Settings'.
    Screen Shot 2013-11-02 at 17.57.37.jpg

We're waiting for the permissions to upload product pics, ZgB - will note those & thanks for providing them!

Personally, load times for me are not far behind those for the Huddler site - sorry if others are finding it slow.

There is a massive amount of data to be transferred - thanks for your patience - missing my pm's too!

    Hello,

Re: pics. Once everything has settled down we will be adding coding so that different shots can be visible for the same fragrance - so the older shots will be staying put for the moment - newer ones will be added later alongside them.

That's not our priority at the moment, however!

My experience with the site response time is ok, nowhere near 10 seconds. I have no trouble viewing pages. Missing the content as the others, but this will come.

What I am noticing is the loss of posts count after the switchover. My posts are sitting on 751 after posting 2 or 3 messages. I don't see this as an issue, but it indicates a broken link somewhere behind the scenes, and may suggest that other areas of the site may experience similar small glitches.

    Edit

Hello, Could you put that information as a separate thread please, so that Grant/Basenotes Dude can spot it easily, fix whatever is broken and then close the thread when it's done. Thanks!

What I wanted was to be able to go to the last reply on a specific post; and I have just seen how to do it. Doh.

At times it's hard to remember features we had here prior to going to Huddler's platform. After a little exploring things come back to one's memory.

I'll go & do a screen shot, teardrop - back in a min!

Edit - If you go to your Settings at the top right of the page, scroll down to 'Thread display options', choose 'Linear - newest First' & then 'save changes' at the bottom of the page, the threads will all display the latest post at the top of the page.

Look at the third column on the page of new posts. Each one has "Last post" and has the username of the last person that posted. Click on the double arrow to go to the last posted entry.

    - - - Updated - - -

The thing I'm missing is being able to hover over the name of the person that posted last and seeing the little popup of what they wrote. What comes up instead is what the OP wrote, not the last post. This was available on Huddler and it was really handy because it sometimes saved you from having to even click to to get into the thread itself.

Agree that was a useful feature, RedRaider.

Sorry I didn't get back in time to answer; thanks RedRaider.

Now, something else. I have received a couple of "Liked" messages, in my "Notifications" box. I don't really want to keep them, how can I delete them?

Hi David - Do you mean the 'Post Thanks Feedback' stuff on our profile?

I seem to receive email notification of them but no pm's here - just a 'pop up' notification which goes away after clicking.

Is that what you are finding too?

If not, a tech person might be able to explain it better!

That's what I mean Lyn. I get a notification of someone "Liking" something that I have written, and when I open up the message it tells me who it is. I now have a list of names, telling me that they like something; and would quite like to delete it. There does not seem anyway that I can; but I'm sure there is.

Right, David - I'm not aware of any way to delete it either - sorry, we'll need to await some tech. advice on that one!

Edit - David - there's a way of turning it off in our Settings' page - clicking on the last the last item at the bottom
