Thread: Most complimented Niche -
I did this one before on the old browser but now I cannot seem to find ANY of the posts on it anymore....Im still trying to get all of my posts back and reviews from the older website, but if you guys could humor me and give me your top 2-3 most complimented NICHE fragrances, I would greatly appreciate it...And YES, I know you guys on BN don't typically wear scents for anybody else but yourself but I'm sure you occasionally get compliments whether warranted or not...
And Please NO CREED'S Fragrances...I have plenty of those....
Thanks again for your help !
And I'm trying to get use to this new updated site but thus far, not liking it too much...

Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
I was born to shoot guns and smell good doin it!

Clive Christian fragrances are superb but all come with hefty price tags
This one's easy: Straight to Heaven.
Not only is it my most-complimented niche, but it's my most-complimented fragrance of all time period.
Montale Aoud Lime (which you bought & were selling if I remember) - with that out:
* +1 to Invasion Barbare
* Amouage Epic / Jubilation XXV
* Mona di Orio Les Nombres d'Or Oud
* +1 to New York edt by Parfum d'Nicolai
* Malle Vetiver Extrardinaire, French Lover & POAL
* Slumberhouse Vikt, Ore & Mare
* Genghis Khan
* Nasomatto's Duro / Black Afgano
* Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Ambre Preciaux & Santal Noble
* +1 Kilian B2B; along with pretty much the entire Arabian Nights series
GIT and Chergui, babeeeeeee!!!! I even had a normally reserved acquaintance walk directly up to me and plant a soulful kiss on my cheek for the glorious scent cloud I was enveloped in while wearing Green Irish Tweed at a gala. "Boy! You smell soooo good this evening!" *SMACK*
My Signature Lineup: Spice & Wood, Royal Mayfair, Pardon, Roja Dove Enigma, Dress Code, Jubilation XXV, CHAMBRE NOIRE, AVENTUS, GIT, Clive Christian C and X, Herod, L'instant Extreme, DHI, DH Parfum, Chergui, Tuscan Leather, Tobacco Vanille, Noir de Noir, APOM, BEL AMI, Gengis Khan, Reflection Man, Jardin d' Amalfi, Nio, Cedrat Boise, Interlude Man.
No creed limits my post but I can safely say l'humaniste by frapin is one of the most complimented scents in my collection
The main person that compliments me on my fragrances is my wife. These are the ones that she compliments me on the most, in no particular order:
Creed Pure What Cologne
Creed Millesime 1849
Creed Spice and Wood
Creed Silver Mountain Water
Tom Ford Oud Wood
Amouage Jubilation XXV
As for NY - no, i don't find it too powedery - but try b4 buying, new juice is relatively weak, powederiness we get might vary by our skin as well.
Also exclude Malle's POAL off my list - it's a b'ful floral, which again might not be to your tastes...
New Haarlem is pretty high on my most complimented list--but you should know that I often do not wear many/most other niche at school, so my answer here is "biased"
edit: also Noir de Noir
Selling: Atelier Cologne Gold Leather | CH Men
My wife enjoys Bleecker St and Straight to Heaven and I notice those two are somewhat frequently commented to get compliments.
Gucci Pour Homme II
Histoires De Parfums 1725
Terre d'Hermes Parfum
Hanae Mori H.M. EDT
Not the "usual suspect", but a quite efficient even if unlikely compliment getter: Knize Ten.
Other complimented niche fragrances, at least according to past discussions, impressions shared firsthand with other fragrance fans, positive feedback etc.: possibly also Tom Ford Black Orchid and Tuscan Leather, Penhaligons Endymion.
From left field for me and perhaps not something that appeals to the wearer at first spray. (Which means give it multiple tests on the skin.) But after many wearing I will report that every time I wear Opus VII I get several complements. Wears like an old school mens fragrance but lacking the middle floral notes and never cloying. Very green at the opening and a delicious finish. A new favorite.
Most worn scents according to my haphazard use of the SOTD...so perhaps my favorites.
1. Epic Man by Amouage (24 wears)
2. Leather Oud by Christian Dior (22 wears)
3. M7 by Yves Saint Laurent (18 wears)
4. Oud Imperial (black) by Perris Monte Carlo (15 wears)
5. Russian Tea Ritual by Masque (14 wears)
6. Fate Man by Amouage (13 wears)
7. Interlude Man by Amouage (12 wears plus)
8. Journey Man by Amouage (12 wears)
9. Terré d'Hermés by Hermés (12 wears)
10. Sycomore by Channel (11 wears)
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Another vote for Interlude Man
Ambre 114 Histoire de Parfums
Chypre Palatin. Compliments from several ladies, in their 20s, 30s and 50s.
Interestingly enough, the most complimented niche I've experienced has been Heeley Cardinal.
+1 for Green Irish Tweed (GIT) by Creed
Absolutely the most unprompted complements I have gotten from any cologne. Everything from 40 something yoga super cougars, to 21 year old girls, to the dude at Taco Bell asking what cologne I was wearing cause he wants to smell like me. I am 38 if that gives any frame of reference.
Top notes of... sweat, gasoline, motor oil; a heart of deer musk and gunpowder, resting on a base of sex and testosterone... Mandom.
If you are wary of New York, you can try Bois du Portugal instead, not powdery at all.
