Great! Go to your Apple icon (upper left), and click on "About This Mac". You will see a version under OS X. We need that for the next step.

    Great! You need two downloads.

The first is the driver software that was released in 2011:

    http://welcome.solutions.brother.com...lid=dlfp001832

The second is the updated editor tool released in 2013:

    http://welcome.solutions.brother.com...lid=dlfp002272

Both of these will be standard packages that you install on a Mac just like usual stuff.

Both pages that I gave you have instructions that you can keep open while installing. Don't be intimidated - most of the instructions are how to uninstall, which you don't need.

After you download in your browser, you just go to the downloads and double-click. I would say do the driver first, to make sure the editor installation detects those changes, but if the directions contradict me, no problem.

No problem - I finished the one problem, and am just watching another 6-hour process.

(.... but feel free to do it tomorrow if you want - it's getting late!)

Hey thanks so much for looking that up. I'll get back to you tomorrow. It's a good thing I asked about it. It is out of date.

Hi, Red, I've downloaded both programs (I think) onto my desktop. The little Touch machine has a warning label on the porthole saying not to plug in the firewire until after you are instructed to, but where do I get my instructions?

Well, the software appears to be non-functioning. I think I may shop for a different label maker. If anyone knows of a good one, let me know.

This is a label maker I'm considering. No software required. What do you think?

Not that you're asking me, but I think the label maker you've chosen looks very usable!

Well, I saw this at Office a Max. Bad news. It's designed to work only on PCs. So I guess I'll give up on the idea.

Those are great videos! I've seen those before. It's extraordinary how emotional dogs are. It's funny, our cats are fairly glad to see us after we've been away. You wouldn't think they would be but they really do express an interest. They rub up against us and purr. Although our stray cat that we renovated immediately marched over and whizzed on one of my (luckily) plastic shopping bags from our trip. So I guess that's what he thought about being left alone with the babysitter for 10 days!

Lol kumquat! Cats and dogs are amazing animals, they're far more intuitive and emotional than most people think.

Speaking of dogs ... have you seen the Subaru Dog Tested, Dog Approved commercials? I love them! There are so many of them, but this has to be one of my favorites (the mama dog looks a lot like my Cali!):

    I've trademarked the color bleu

Default Share your resources for French Pronunciation

When I was in high school, I took French and fell head over heels in love with the beauty of the language. Now, 20+ years later, some of it still sticks in my brain. However, I like to pronounce things correctly so I've been working on learning the correct pronunciations for the various terms found in parfumerie as well as the many French Design houses.

I thought I might not be the only one who wanted to be certain that Toilette was NOT, in fact pronounced like toilet. So, where do you like to go to find proper pronunciation?

I found this young lady's video helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v6DrsDA48M

This is probably better suited to the Off Topic thread so we'll move it over.

If you have an iphone there's a button with a speaker icon on the dictionary app. You push that and get the correct pronunciation. There must be one available on a website somewhere.

hmm, that would be handy Kumquat, but I have the S3 I had a thread about this on the Huddler site with some helpful links that Hednic shared, but I can't seem to find that now.

I was thinking it might be a good sticky to have a pronunciation guide thread since I can't be the only one who struggles.

There's already a suitable sticky, so it may be an idea to add the additional resources to that one in order to keep it all together?

There used to be a France based Basenoter who had put up an excellent French pronunciation perfume guide and could hear his voice, way pre-Huddler and should still be around to access, but haven't had any luck finding it yet.

Google translate not only identifies the language, but speaks the pronunciation of whatever you type. Sometimes it misses, but not often.
