Yikes kumquat! That could have been much worse. And that tree will take a generation or more if re-planted to mature to that height

So sweet. I saw that the biggest elephant in Kenya was killed by poachers. It sickens me. Why can't they arrest these people? They are obviously too lenient or it wouldn't keep happening.

I heard from a friend who does appraisals about a couple whose home was full of taxidermi. They had been on multiple safaris. Killed dozens of animals, illegally and paid bribes to get them into the US. They had an elephant and a giraffe among many other things in a fake scenery painted series of rooms. This makes me so furious. Why do people have to destroy life like this?

Senseless acts honestly. I fish a decent amount, if I ever caught anything worth mounting I would take several photos and release the fish. Taxidermy for fish now doesn't even require the actual fish, they can make molds based on the photos and paint to where it looks nearly identical to the real thing that continues to live! My dad did this with a large lake trout he caught last year, he continues to swim (hopefully) up in Green Lake, WI to this day while his resin replica is mounted in our basement :-) Pretty cool stuff.

Yes, I told another friend this story and about how the woman was reportedly so proud of killing the elephant. My friend said she'd be impressed if the elephant had been armed with an automatic weapon and could shoot back at the woman.

When I was Thailand years back I saw a woman do something just like this. Quite amazing!

Seeing that really makes me feel awful that I have a wallet, belt and boots made of pangolin leather.

What were the circumstances under which this was taken? Was this taken in an African game park or in the wild?

Rhodesians Worldwide was the source for the elephant photo. (Facebook) I think it may be a preserve.

Of course not. The beautiful picture just gave me pause and made me reflect on certain extravagances I could have done without.
