Default Perfumes for prostitutes in a Guy Ritchie's Snatch - like store?

Yes, I know, Tabu comes to mind.

Nothing of the sort: this is more an account than a topic for discussion. Hope you enjoy it and not get offended by it..

I usually get my colognes from three stockists, one of them specialises in Houses that are not widely distributed or not distributed at all. For instance, this stockist will be the only one carrying Habit Rouge. The rest of the stores will sell some Gueralins, but not Habit Rouge. He also stocks many discontinued ones, like Lui de Rochas.

The store is where the Courts are, thus, lawyers have their offices in the area... and please don't missunderstand me, this same neighborhood is well known for hosting bordellos (one of the members of the Supreme Court has been accused of renting one of his apartments to a group of prostitutes).

So I go to this stockist's store and spend some time smelling well known as well as rare scents. And while I am there, the owner is usually visited by "Mafia looking" young guys (Guy Ritchie's Snatch characters look alike, seriously).

The dialogue that follows is like this:

Mafia Looking Guy (MLG) - "Hello there, got what X asked you?"
Owner: "Yes. Y, would you please bring Z's order?" (Shouting)

Just to make it short: most of the times the orders consists of 12 - 24 bottles of well known designer's blends. Last time was J'Adore.

Add to this a comment by a friend of mine (a womanizer, actually) saying that he was tired of smelling Flower by Kenzo on his girls (prostitutes, really).

And yes, the time before this account, another MLG bought 12 bottles of Flower.

Wrapping it up: If I were a woman, I would wear Tabu with confidence. As to the rest, I would not get close to Guy Ritchie's Snatch look alike guys while wearing the above mentioned ones.

Yes, it feels I am buying dope rather than fragrances. Would say it is the dark side of this hobby. Sort of a kick, actually.

Forgot: I am trying hard telling my 15 yo daughter that Flower by Kenzo is not precisely a scent for her. Suggested one from Caron (forgot the name) that inspired Flower, but she finds it dated. So I am suggesting Shalimar Initial, she likes it, but have not made up her mind yet.

If I offended someone, my apologies. And if so, please feel free to ask moderators to delete this thread.

Who knew? I always thought Flower by Kenzo was a decent scent and appropriate for a young lady. I think associating it with prostitutes would only occur if you knew some well enough to sniff 'em.

I imagine a good prostitute could afford to wear whatever she or her johns preferred. She might even have an extensive collection.

I am presuming that since the girl cannot change perfumes from morning to night to please all "Johns" ... that she might wear something fairly inoffensive, with plenty of Vanilla.

Your post is most interesting. In fact, it is fascinating. I've never thought about the perfumes that prostitutes might wear. I wonder if a prostitute would develop an aversion to her (or his) most worn perfume, or if they just consider it part of the work day.

It might depend of the rung in the ladder of the Profession.

    * Streetwalkers wear anything.
    * Inside Working Girls wear comfortable Vanilla.
    * Expensive Call Girls wear something really classy and personal for their image enhancement.

    LOL!!!

I am not of the kind associating scents with people. A coworker that is "not a nice person" actually bathes in Kouros and that does not prevent me from enjoying it. As to Flower by Kenzo, I really like it, but being a best seller, I venture that is the reason why it is worn by protitutes.

So, yes: expensive call girls will choose expensive scents (please take in mind the local market is not so diverse as the ones in global cities, thus "expensive" means Kenzo, not Amouage - Some Creeds are available, but their price is well beyond the purchasing power of most potential consumers).

What gets my attention are the pimps a la Guy Ritchie buying full boxes of J'Adore or Flower for the girls, for the enjoyment of their johns.

BTW, my Grandma, a fumehead as me, always mentioned that one of the two big French Houses was regarded as a House blending scents for the "demi-mondain" / "cocottes". The two mentioned were Guerlain and Caron. I can't recall whch one was the "tarty" one.

    Caron for the duchesses
    Guerlain for the cocottes

Some scents appear the same in criminalistics chronicles as in hagiographies.

Are you saying that musk and iris are often worn by prostitutes?

I'm reading that as musk for the duchesses, to give them street cred.
Iris for the cocottes to give them ballroom cred.

The criminalistics vs. hagiographies has me wondering, though. Papi, will you elaborate?

Thanks!!! You made my Grandma's words back!!! A pity I wasn't a fumehead when she mentioned that.

Still, must have had to take this concept back. Grandpa was a close friend of the person in charge of Guerlain's local factory production, so I have this respectable-sized bottle of Guerlinade that I call Shalimoid dating from I don't know when.

I don't think La Familia like being photographed at work... are you trying to get rid of Pollux?

Yes Zatarin, I'd be a life risking activity.

Actually, the "store" looks like a warehouse. The owner doesn't have an idea of what he's got. The last time I bought him two hefty-priced bottles I negotiated a vintage Equipage tester, full, with some evaporation to the point it feels more like an EdP (after buying the reformulated version, I am hoarding vintage bottles of Equipage)..

There were times when I told him "I want that bottle", the answer being "I havn't got it" and me telling him, "You are fooling me: it is there. Now, if you did npt know you had it, how much are you charging me for that?" and that is when these pimps come in and, well, they just send all the negotiating context to the ground (the owner is quite ill mannered).

If spending a good amout of money, you will get a bag. So far, I was given five: except for one, the rest were presents for friends. Sometimes I get lucky: I got a 30 ml sample of Gucci's Envy.

    So far for this "hobby".

Off topic: four last ones and that is all - Cuir de Russie, Sycomore, Jicky and Mouchoir. Maybe Hdp1740. The first ones, available here. The rest, a complicated task...

Trying to be tactful here: it is hard to imagine that stores like this exist these days! The owner has no idea of what they got on hand, how are they keeping the inventory? Multiple bottles of the same scent are bought for every girl they know or one girl is supposed to have all 12 in her possession and active use-- like one-size-fits-all? 30ml samples of Gucci scents?

BTW, that Caron whose name you forgot is Royal Bain de Champagne (nowadays aka Royal Bain de Caron).

I love Tabu and have worn it since I was about 14. Proudly.

Kenzo Flower is a perfectly appropriate perfume for a young woman; you can't account for other people's taste!

If given a choice, a prostitute, like a woman of any profession, probably wears what she thinks is good, what she can afford, and what she thinks people she comes into contact with will like. Pretty much like the rest of us.

Agree with Kagey . But not surprised about J 'Adore or even Flower. Uninspired; IMO, what is typically wrong with department store fare.
