Thread: My core 6 frags

Ooh, that's a tough one. Nice " Core 6 ". If I had to have a " Core 6 " it would be one daytime, one night time for warm weather and one for cooler weather and two for year round. My cooler weather daytime fragrance would be Tobacco Vanille, my cooler weather night time fragrance would be Noir de Noir. Daytime warmer weather would be L'Humaniste, night time would be Allure Homme Edition Blanche. My year round fragrances would be Spice and Wood and Aventus. I would also have to have 34 Boulevard Saint Germain and Musc Ravageur as my two wild cards... LOL! Damn, couldn't keep it at 6.
    My current top ten:
    1. Spice and Wood
    2. Tonka Imperiale
    3. Dior Homme
    4. Pure Malt
    5. Oud Wood
    6. Ambre Nuit
    7. L'air Du Desert Marocain
    8. Noir de Noir
    9. Apple Brandy
    10.Straight to Heaven

    Heritage
    Fahrenheit
    Dior Homme (edt)
    Monsieur Balmain
    Mouchoir de Monsieur
    Opium PH
    I like your thinking.
I could almost have posted that myself. Only variations for me would be probably Monsieur De Givenchy instead of Monsieur Balmain for a classic citrus and Egoiste instead of Opium PH for the heavy oriental though I like these two also.
    * Thinking about it I also have to be in the just the right mood for Fahrenheit so I'd consider Givenchy Gentleman vintage or Kouros too.

Interesting exercise. Mine, as I think of them by purpose. With as few as 6, I had to really consider when and where I wear fragrances, with the Houston heat being a major limitation on wearing a lot of my very favorites year-round.

    1. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - Date / Cool weather
    2. Chanel Coromandel - Formal / Date / Cool weather
    3. Guerlain LIDGE - Formal / Date / Cool weather
    4. Hermes Terre d'Hermes EDP - Work / Casual / All weather
    5. Lubin Itasca - Work / Casual / All weather
    6. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino - Work / Casual / Warm weather

For me this would be as follows:

    Aventus
    Dior Homme Intense
    Terre
    GPH2
    Burberry London
    Black Afgano

This last one is not really as versatile as everything else on the list, but I sort of have a special relationship with this Nasomatto beast. I honestly think that I would always need to have a bottle of this in my core line up. My wife detests it, but what can I do... Lol

Unfortunate. That question sort of answers itself, now doesn't it?

    What a Q!

Prefered Houses, Guerlain, Givenchy, Chanel, YSL''s. Cartier, Rochas, Dior

    Guerlain: Heritage, Habit Rouge, Vetiver

Givenchy: Gentleman, Monsieur, Insensé - OK, done: but I can't hold to that amount, so I keep going:

Chanel: N° 19, Cuir de Russie, Egöiste Platinum, Egöiste, Pour Monsieur

    YSL: Kouros, Rive Gauche

    Cartier: Le Biaiser, Must

    Rochas: Pour Monsieur, Moustache

    Dior: Eau Sauvage

Plus others: Lomani, Joop!, Lalique Equus, Lalique Le Lion, LaliqueL'Hommage a L'Homme, Weil pH, Balenciaga pH, Pour Un Homme, JPG Fleur du Mâle, Le Mâle Terrible, Bvlgari Aqua, Pierre Cardin, Bois de Portugal, Juan Manuel, Thays, Cándido López, Ballena de la Pampa, Hornero, Un Poema de los Dones, Aromatics Elixir, Beagle, Kenzo Power, Heno de Pravia, Quorum, Agua de Lavanda, R are R Pepper and Woods,, Cuero de Rusia Roseto, Vetiver de Carven, Encre Noire.

Aroud 30ish something. I guess that would be a more than respectabe wardrobe and not the mess I have - too many I am not wearing many of them.

I'm currently trying to under-use my core six so I don't get bored with them. I'm having limited success, in the sense that I do keep wearing them.

    Bulgari green tea
    Cartier Santos and its derivatives
    Gaultier 2
    Gucci Pour Homme 2003
    Malle Musc Ravageur

Vol de Nuit - first one pops into my head that must be here
Geranium Pour Monsieur - my fresh scent and my go-to airplane scent
Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui - I love 80's powerhouse scents and this one is quintessential to me
Tuscan Leather - blasphemy, but in my heart it edges out Knize Ten for this spot
Dior Vetiver - extremely versatile and best vetiver in my opinion
Tam Dao - this book-ends Vol de Nuit as one of the two that I'd probably grab if my house was on fire
