For me: Siecle
I noticed today that though I think la nuit all around is a great fragrance it develops a certain smell in the dry down that is sublime, far exceeding what you'd expect from the opening. In your opinion what fragrances have drydowns ALONE that would render them masterpieces?
For me: Siecle
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
It would have to be one of the Guerlain classics. Perhaps not Mitsouko, strangely. Maybe L'Heure Bleue (vintage, sorry!) or Habit Rouge for their warm, powdery spiciness that lingers well into the morning after the night before? Nobody does drydowns like Guerlain.
Incidentally, another vote for a fragrance from the house of Guerlain. But, in my opinion: Mouchoir de Monsieur and Guerlain Homme Pininfarina Limited Edition EDP both have some of the richest, most creative, most surprisingly beautiful drydowns I experienced.
It has to be Sycomore for me. Oh those luscious woods!
Green Irish Tweed.
L'Heure Bleue extrait (vintage).
Aramis Havana. Finishes up with a heavenly blend of Fruitwood Smoke, Tobacco, Rum, Vanilla, Mixed Floral and Spice
"Are you a god?"
"Are you a wizard?"
"Are you a man?"
"Then what are you?"
"I am awake.."
Dior Homme Intense
PureMalt or O.Amen ...Can you say DARK chocolate lover here....nough said
"Thank GOD for the nose, for without it we would not be enjoying these beautiful created Scents" also Remember "Balance is everything and the key to appreciating "
Maybe Guerlain Heritage or Mouchoir De Monsieur
Narsico Rodriguez musc for him
Hypocrites will always be a thorn in my back....and my middle finger will always be the best remedy.....
Taste of Fragrance
it's all subjective but right now i'm partial toward virgin island water
I'm going to agree with Hedonist and say +1 N'Aimez Que Moi Extrait by Caron
Green Irish Tweed
Santal Noble followed by Jaipur Pour Homme.
I think Terre by Hermes is pure magic in drydown.
Iquitos, Cuir Ottoman, Lyric for Men, Rocabar, Heritage,TF for Men and Noir (inspite of its bad reputation ,the dry down is very good) .
Too many to list, but a few are below...
Many Guerlain's - my favorite drydown's will have to be from MdM & Bois d'Armenie
Montale Aoud Lime
Amouage Interlude & Tribute
MPeG's Santal Noble & Ambre Preciaux
PG's L'Ombre Fauve
Vintage Hermes Bel Ami
Mona di Orio Oud
Slumberhouse Vikt, Ore, Rume & Norne.
For me it is Frapin Pasion Boisee. i cant get enough of the dry down. i haven't smelled many fragrances yet as i am a newbie to the fragrance world, but for now this is the best dry-down for me.
Virgin Island Water
