Default Good College Scent under $50?

Im in grad school and am looking for a new scent for the fall/winter. I can't spend more than $50 and this would likely be a blind buy unless i can try it out before xmas. I'm not too picky when it comes to frags (as far as type, not quality). I guess if i had to give a preference, i'd say i like the woody scents. I can do masculine but not super heavy crazy hairy man scents.

I have Perry Ellis red, which i love but its more for summer. I also like Azzaro Chrome in the summer. I have Kenneth Cole Black and Perry Ellis Reserve which are both solid winter/fall frags, but I need something new/better.

Im 22 and in college and I want a scent that is mature but will still appeal to girls around my age (like 18-22). I tend to rank other people's enjoyment of the scent (read:females) above my own and I need a scent that is a real compliment getter.

    Here are my thoughts:

    YSL Rive Gauche
    Versace Dreamer?
    YSL L'Homme
    YSL La Nuit
    A*men

Of these, i have tried L'homme, which i loved, but i feel like it's one for special occasions more than every day wear. I have so many YSL because i like them and I have heard they're great bang for the buck. I'm concerned that Rive Gauche is more for older men (not OLD, but like 30's) but ive heard great things about that. Id like to pull the trigger on something like Dior Homme Intense, but I can't drop that much. My Budget is $50. It can be a few bucks over, but not much ($55 tops). This would need to be a frag i could wear both as a daily and as a going out to the bar frag (if possible). Help a brother out

From the previous suggestions: Rive Gauche (by far not that "old-mannish" in my opinion, in fact, quite timeless that it easily suits almost any age), L'Homme or The Dreamer.

Additional suggestions: Mugler Cologne, L'Eau par Kenzo pour Homme, Ck One Shock.

That was another one i was looking at, but it's closer to $60 or $70... i know...it's close but i've gotta draw the line somewhere. Is that a good blind buy? I've heard fantastic things about it though

Go to lilydirect.com and check out Dior Homme or Dior Homme sport.

You can get a 1.7 oz for around $49 or 3.4oz tester for around $52

    Good luck!

I've always wanted to try Dior Homme Intense (which is way out of my budget). Dior Homme is an option at that price...but again, could i use it as an everyday scent?

It's absolutely amazing in my opinion. My wife hates my fragrance hobby. But this is the only one that managed to get a "Damn, you smell good!" out of her. I highly suggest you try it. I blind bought it myself and couldn't be happier that I did. But I will recommend that you sample each fragrance you are interested in and get what's best for you.

Out of your choices, I would go with YSL L' Homme. Safe, and could be worn year round IMO.

Don't know if you can find it in the US, but Molinard Teck or even Roger & Gallet's L'Homme might be worth a look.

Give a sniff to L'Occitane's Eau des Baux. It's cypress and incense, but reads more as a warm, dry vanilla. Surprisingly good given its low price point.

Eau des Baux is a really good suggestion. I'd add Givenchy Play Intense.

I actually prefer Dior Homme to DHI. Both are solid scents IMO and quite similar. DH has just a bit more violet while DHI a bit more vanilla. I use them all year round.

Other members' suggestions are also great. If you live near a Sephora, go there and check them out.

I wouldn't suggest any of your original choices (no offense, I actually own some of those)

I would suggest you look into:

    Dior Homme Sport 2012
    Gucci Pour Homme II
    Mugler Cologne
    Kenneth Cole Black
    Versace Man
    Midnight in Paris

Some of which others have suggested.

Yes - this is a nice one - perhaps grab a few samplers first and see what you think

I tried Dreamer recently and it just did not work for me -

Also a consideration is Fahrenheit Absolute!

Looking for THE femme fatale scent. If you think there is something I should smell please PM me!

In addition to what others have already said, I'm tempted to suggest the following:
    Encre Noire
    Kouros
    Kenzo pour homme
    Fahrenheit
Van Cleef and Arpels pour homme.

If you like woody scents with citrus up front then Versace L'homme.

Also, Azzaro and Rive gauche, as others have opined.

If versatility is not a high priority, you could look at midnight in Paris and prada's Amber pour Homme intense.
A wild card entry would be Azzaro visit.

I just picked this up yesterday right at the $52.00 mark. If this is your choice you may want to speed up your selection as this one has been said to be discontinued sometime in the near future.

I like YSL La Nuit in the parfum strength. A very good scent.
