    Default Nutmeg scents

Hello boys and girls, I have found a new note that isn't so new. I have fallen in love with nutmeg again. I just got a sample of Straight to Heaven again today and I have to say while I really like the scent I love the opening! I know that I am in the minority on this scent, where I love the opening more than I love the drydown but I just cannot get enough of the nutmeg in the opening. Help me out, what nutmeg scents are out there that are worth sniffing out? Give me a top three nutmeg based scents or even if they have a predominant nutmeg scent somewhere in the development of the fragrance. As always, I thank you for your expert advice in advance.
    My current top ten:
    1. Spice and Wood
    2. Epic Man
    3. Tonka Imperiale
    4. Noir de Noir
    5. Bois d'Argent
    6. Musc Ravageur
    7. Apple Brandy
    8. Dior Homme Intense
    9. Aoud 1
    10.Tobacco Vanille

Also love nutmeg. Two I personally like and own are Seigneur by Galimard and TelQuel by Yves Rocher but unfortunately I would think difficult to find samples of. Sorry not very much help.

I have tried Caravelle Epice by Frapin and even thought the nutmeg is really good in that fragrance I would have to say that the cumin overwhelms it and makes it unwearable IMO.

Santa Maria Novella's Marasciella is all about nutmeg. It also has mace which is a type of nutmeg, I believe. It's nice if lightly applied b'cuz its a beastly powerful fragrance.

Nutmeg is tricky. If not used with a careful hand, it can overpower a fragrance.

My favorite use of it is in Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentrée.
It's very noticable without being overwhelming.

I find the nutmeg in Comme des Garcons Wonderwood sticks out making it smell like a wood pie to me.

Cacharel pour homme. Fabulous natural nutmeg ornamented with a demure citrus top and fine woody base. Perfecf for autumn and winter.

Cacharel's Nemo has a big dose of nutmeg in it; too much for me. I prefer Chanel PM Concentree like others have suggested.

Yes, this is the daddy of the nutmeg scents. Others I like where it isn't so very prominent include 1828 by HdP, Guerlain Vetiver and Kenzo Jungle pour Homme.

Forgot about Kenzo Jungle pour Homme; that is a very good one as well.

Yes, Cacharel Pour Homme. One of my favourites which for some reason doesn't get mentioned much on Basenotes.
Might have to start a thread...

Epic Man has nutmeg in the opening, though you need to try hard to pick it out of the other notes in there.

Wonderwood by CdG also has a prominent nutmeg note which I enjoy equally.

Yeah, Cacharel PH was close to a masterpiece. No idea how the current formulation smells with all the synthetic substitutes.

Derby vintage started with a lot of realistic nutmeg (probably even natural), now restricted by IFRA...

I remember Kenzo Jungle opening very good with a lot of cardamom (maybe also nutmeg) and drying down to a boring sweetness nonsense; something similar happens with Caravelle Epicee. The note probably doesn't last a lot, and those 2 scents seem to do nothing about it.

There is also nutmeg in L'Homme Libre and Bleu if you are into fresher scents.

Yeah, too many here at basenotes in the past years have said Azzaro Visit has a lot of nutmeg. I igree partially... I think is more incense, cardamom and cedar. But check out santos concentree. The concentree version has a nutmeg smell that is quite similar to the powdered nutmeg we buy for cooking and it lasts forever.

As has been mentioned, Kenzo Jungle is the first one that comes to my mind.

Others that are good nutmeg fragrances:
Bond No. 9 - I Love New York for Marriage Equality
    Ramon Monegal - Agar Musk

Agua Verde by Salvador Dali is a freakin nutmeg bomb. It's also very gourmand and "foody" smelling. Fig, nutmeg, vetiver, lemon, sandalwood, amber.. Smells like some sort of bakery typed pie or bread; like nothing I've ever smelled before.. but often difficult to wear.
    My 3 Signature Scents:

    Rive Gauche Light (2004)
    Fahrenheit (1988)
    Paul Smith Man (2009)

Prominent nutmeg along with sweet woods, cardamom, tonka and a tangerine kick at the top.

I would love to get a decant of Wonderwood. When I tried it a couple of years back I was only into gourmands and stayed away from woody scents. Now, that my tastes have changed I would love to revisit this.
