    Default Niche Vanilla..

I tried Mona Di Orio's vanilla a few months back and was impressed but not FB impressed..
My SOTD is Le Labo Vanille 44.. It sits close to the skin but I like it.. Some say $500-hell no!!!
I have a ton of good designer's but am at least looking to sample some more niche..
    What are your tops?

IMHO SDV is the best in this Genre but on A less expensive frag...the vanilla take on my MIP EDP in the a heart and drydown is very nice take on vanilla...The tonka is very nice and subtle not over cloying...very smooth....

Jil Sander Man Absolute is the best vanilla & citrus combo I have ever smelled. Real beautiful stuff though I'm unsure whether it's classed as niche or designer. Unfortunately it's very hard to come by for a reasonable price otherwise I would own a bottle.

I forgot a great one. Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille. Light boozy vanilla at it's best.

My SOTD and a great vanilla frag. Not too sweet, but a nice rich vanilla over woods.
Looking to Swap: Christopher Street by Charenton Macerations: I have a brand new unopened bottle. If you're interested, send me a message.

Looking for: Amyris Homme: If you want it off your hands, send me a message. I'd prefer to swap for it.

Ode a la Vanille Route Sur la Mexique

They're a million times better than current formulation Shalimar.

I think you might like Liquid Night by A Lab on Fire too.

Vanilla, Hinoki Wood (it's kind of like cedar) and Incense...with a little lime on top.

It reminds me of a high quality designer, in that I think it's something that could appeal to the masses were it available in a department store, but it's not like the average stuff that's out there.

    Two recommendations:

La Maison de la Vanille's Vanille Noire du Mexique (dark, rich, sweet vanilla powerhouse) and Vanillaville by Soivohle / Liz Zorn. She describes it as "vanilla for grown ups," which it is, as well as being absolutely gorgeous. Also unisex.

It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

My sale thread has some of my underappreciated fragrances looking for a good, new home...

This. Plus, it's a bargain compared to most of those mentioned above.

No prob. It means the EDT is well recommended also. Thanks. For the price you get more for your money so that isn't a bad thing.

Last time I looked, Lily Direct (no affiliation) had 100mL of the EdT, which is excellent, for $75. Quality for $ hard to beat.

James that is a great price. I've never seen the 100ml below the sub 80's price before. I was holding off new purchases until the new year but this may be one I will have to move on. I have had this on my want list for a while.

Don't ever recall seeing them go that low either.

I also really like Il Profumo Vanille Bourbon and Lavanilla Grapefruit Vanille, but both might be a little too sweet for your taste.

Mine too! I especially love Sublime Vanille - it's the perfect level of vanilla. SDV is nuclear vanilla, but done very well, and I love it, too.

The Odes get huge raves - I am definitely going to latch onto one.

I have this, and the wood is really special. I never paid attention to the vanilla - I need to break it out and concentrate on that. Thanks for the tip!!!

The EDP is richer and more dense (which may not suit of course) but the sillage and longevity are second to none

Thanks Kaern in the past I personally go for the EDP's as I enjoy their strength so that description sums it up for me.

+1 Un Bois De Vanille: a thick, creamy vanilla dream with hints of coconut.

    Default Re: Niche Vanilla..

Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain: A boozy and slightly woody vanilla fragrance. A true beauty by the house of Guerlain.

Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford: Sweet, thick, delicious! This vanilla is spiced up with some tobacco and clove.

Tihota by Indult: Pure and sweet, a vanilla "soliflore" of excellent quality.

Vanille West Indies by Ligne St. Barth: Similar to Tihota, but sweeter (it features notes of caramel) and even more intense (monster sillage!!). It has a very high perfume oil concentration, the liquid itself is very oily.

West Side by Bond No. 9: This one is more feminine, a mixture of vanilla and rose on a base of sandalwood. It also has a very boozy note, expecially in the beginning.

Montale Vanilla Extasy. It's like a clean vanilla tea with a hint of dried fruit. Amazing.
