    Default Amouage Sandal - oil

    Picked up some Amouage Sandal.

I confirm it as authentic sandalwood.

Concentration is not as high as I'd hoped but low concentration natural is better than high concentration synthetic.

Good to know. Too bad it seems it's only available to discerning Gulf people. I tried to get it in italy last year, but the distributor said it didn't have it. (it did have homage water, though)

They'd stopped making it for a couple of years as per the Amouage brand manager.
Saying that they could not source the materials on those years and now its available in limited quantities.

Last I heard the oils aren't available outside the UAE.

If compliant, they wouldn't be very attar-ish - we will probably be able to order from overseas online stockists at some stage.

I just picked up a 12 ml bottle of Sandal at the Amouage boutique in Bahrain. It does appear to have rather limited availability. They only had four bottles left after I bought mine.

I never tried the original release, but this 2013 version is really good! I'm debating whether to get another bottle. The shop only had the 12 ml size. I don't know if this new version comes in the 30 ml size.

Anyone tried the Amber attar? Is this new?

The Sandal only came in 12ml.
    I too wanted a 30ml.

    The Ambergris is otherworldly noggs.

    Get the 30ml.

I will go back to Bahrain next weekend and check it out. Can you compare it with any other amber fragrances?

I bought 6 ml of Qurashi's Amber Jewel (Ghawar Al Ambar) oil several years ago, but never did much with it. I've been playing around with it lately and I really like it. It is very intense, dry, and resinous, definitely not as user friendly as your average amber fragrance. I'd imagine that the Amouage is a bit more civilized.

The amouage ambergris is Molook? or a new one?

Glad Amouage has some good stuff for the gulf. too bad they send neroli water to the rest of the world.

May I asked what you paid for it? I saw it on Zahras recently for I believe $250. A few months ago I let a bottle of it slip through my hands on eBay for around $160

I think it's new and is simply named Amber.

The 12 ml Sandal was 40 Bahraini Dinars which is about $106.

It's called Amber but it doesn't smell like amber.
    I think it's ambergris.

    It smells salty.

I mostly layer it with other perfumes.

Like my wife's Rose Absolue (Annick Goutal) which is like spraying estrogen. The ambergris adds a dimension of testosterone.

Just participated in a split of this, I'm super-psyched as this has been on my radar for several years and the chance to finally have some in my wardrobe (along with Homage & Tribute) makes me very happy.

Anyone else worn / smelled / sampled / bought this one and have any other comments about it since the last comment from last year?

It's certainly sandalwood (i think I've mentioned before we had several mysore sandalwood figurines as kids).

Agree with Hedonist222 - one of the best sandalwood's. Will not be potent like Tribute / homage etc, but that's the nature of sandalwood. Lasts a long time!!!

I used to have the white boxed version and was excellent! Incredibly buttery smooth and longlasting with a slightly spicy start. The later black box versions were ok but i felt slight astringency which possibly means later variants contained more S.Spicatam as opposed to S.Albam.
An excellent detailed review could be found here:

    http://www.kafkaesqueblog.com/2014/0...-sandal-attar/

Amouage Amber is also a soliflore of ambergris although in other website it's mentioned otherwise. As mentioned by Hedonist222 it is an excellent layering agent which adds an extra dimension to any fragrance and lasts incredibly long time.
