    Hello everyone -

I woke up to the luscious scent of sweet olive (osmanthus) which is blooming all over New Orleans these days, so I was naturally compelled to reach for an osmanthus perfume, Patou's wonderful 1000...

...which I think will be a good choice for the day I have planned. I'll be joining Kiliwia in the kitchen, but we're not really doing much Christmas baking over here. My dad's Meyer lemon tree came through with a huge crop this year, so in an effort that sounds almost worthy of Wolfie, Mom and I are going to be zesting, peeling, slicing and squeezing about 100 lemons for marmalade, Limoncello, and of course, *pie*.

    Y'all have a wonderful day!

    Wearing DSH's Sampsuchinon.

Here's a bit about the scent from Dawn's web site"
"Dedicated to the Egyptian God of the Crocodiles, Sobek, Sampsuchinon is a wonderfully green scent with unexpected nuances of spice and resin that gives it it’s unique depth. The herbs most closely associated with Sobek are marjoram and oregano which are sweetly fragrant. In western perfumery, marjoram and oregano are almost exclusively used in men’s designs, Sampsuchinon is remarkably suited to both men and women."

It's warm & cozy, very soothing.

Evangeline, that lime pie is delicious! More than twenty years ago I had a homemade Key Lime Pie somewhere on the way from Key West and Miami, where I spent a month in summer.

Lol, good pie does tend to stick with you, even after many years! But I am so happy to know this about you - I can almost imagine it! I bet that was a fantastic summer.

Now I want fondue and Chablis, too.

E., have napkins -- will travel! Looks scrumptious, sounds delicious and probably smells divine too. Anyway, I have not had good lemon marmalade in many years, and yes! it is still the same address. Just kidding.

While I was at a funeral yesterday, someone dropped off a box of durable goods (groceries with the price stickers all intact, from the local grocery store), Mr.T said he did not know the people who had dropped the food. I first thought it was a mistake, but then a pastor from the church that we never go to knocked on the door saying they forgot to put in the meat from their refrigerator and wanted us have another bag. Oh well, feels like we won something -- their way of supporting our spirits and wishing us a happy season, we have not had a really great year here, really!

We wrapped the gifts this morning, took me like 4 hours. It is snowing lightly here, but just look at this! http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...historic-snow/

Hello everyone. Joining the bakers -- we made a big batch of struffoli earlier this morning. For the uninitiated, struffoli are an indispensable Christmas treat in Italian-American homes. Little balls of dough are lightly flavored with vanilla and lemon, then deep-fried, drenched in honey, then topped with tiny multicolored sprinkles. Up next will be anginetti, soft, iced lemon drop cookies.

Scent of the kitchen adventures is Dries van Noten par Frederic Malle. Best to all.

    Hi, Globetrotter Jon.

Snow predictions sent me out of the house to the grocery store early today. Now I'm feeling impervious to any weather threat. We finally turned on the propane heater in the bathroom. Up until now, we've had a fan blowing air through the back hall to the bathroom from the living room where we heat only with the potbelly stove. Feeling plenty cozy in Bois des Iles. Enjoy that new boiler, 30R.

All the baking sounds wonderful! I don't plan on doing a lot of baking but it's going to have to wait til next week.

I just reapplied. Hoping this will inspire me to go in and work on a painting. The Vetyver is so luscious. It's toothy, you're right. And sort of cinnamon- like, but earthier. It has a sweetness, too. And is a little dirty with a concrete edge.

@quarry, I dare say you are right, the young lad is already surprisingly muscular with a pair of very broad shoulders. Quite the hunk!
