    Default Does This Even Exist?

Hi everyone. I've been pouring through earlier threads, but am unsure if what I'm looking for even exists. I'm thinking ahead to summer, and looking for something that might fit the following requirements:

    • Light and fresh, without being insipid.
    • Non-citrus (or at least not primarily citrus).
    • Not something that everyone wears.
    • Under $100.
    • Easily available in both samples and FB.

    Thanks in advance everyone!

Apart from the samples being readily available requirement, I would recommend Jean-Luc Amsler Homme (not the Priv version). Bottles can be found on eBay at relatively inexpensive prices. I think I paid about $25 for a 50 ml bottle earlier this year.

    For instance:

Marte Arte Battistoni (moderate citrus and a balmy/fresh slightly musky violet)

Must de Cartier Pour Homme (finally freshly talky and with a moderate citric performance)

Eau d'orange Verte original edt (i can't deny the citrus are present but under my nose the exotic fruits and flowers prevail, still one of the best, not properly light but dry, fresh and exotic)

If you are in to experiments give a try to Blue Incense by Comme des Garcons and it can strike you with its surprisingly fresh, minty/aromatic, slightly ozonic and mineral light incensey trail.

    These may work:

    Philosykos

    Dune

    Aramis New West

    Mont Blanc Cool Presence
Paris*L.A. is an excellent new gourmand from A Lab On Fire. If you're looking for a fun, new fragrance for this winter, check it out!

Diptyque Philosykos is right up your alley. Fresh watery fig leaves!

Gendarme. It's classified as a citrus scent, but imo the citrus isn't so pronounced. It's more clean and fresh than citrus.

Vetiver Hombre by Adolfo Dominguez: A light, mainly green vetivery fragrance, which is extremely fresh!

    Dune by Dior +1

Further maybe Horizon by Guy Laroche but this one is not that light.

Dune is definitely light and fresh, reasonably priced and not that common - a good option. Another vote for this one.

+1 for Philosykos.. make sure ya like figs though.
Also, may wanna consider Hugo by Hugo Boss.. this does have a grapefruit note, but I wouldn't say the scent is predominately citrus. Rather, mostly, a Summer cypress type scent. There is definitley apple in there, cypress, grapefruit, juniper, mint, lots of lavender, woodsy and floral notes, and some spices. Fresh, masculine, unique.
    My 3 Signature Scents:

    Rive Gauche Light (2004)
    Fahrenheit (1988)
    Paul Smith Man (2009)

eh, maybe this sounds generic but Green Irish Tweed and Millisime Imperiale are both fresh without being a citrus scent, are pretty rare actually worn scents but still smell similar to familiar generic versions and can be purchased as decants or full bottle sized decants for about $100.
    Tom Ford Splits!!!!
Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, Oud Wood, Noir de Noir,
Plum Japonais, Tobacco Oud, Caf Rose, Lavender Palm, etc...

I haven't tried it yet, but think I've read that Mugler Cologne is pretty good for what your looking for perhaps?

Eight & Bob... but doesn't quite meet your < $100 specification.

Another vote for Phyloskos, but as mentioned, the fig note, which tends towards the smell of a fig tree, with its sappy, almost coconutty smell, might not be for everyone.

Vettiveru by Comme des Garcons is also one of my go to summer scents.

Perfume is like cocktails without the hangover, like chocolate without the calories, like an affair without tears, like a vacation from which you never have to come back.

Some great suggestions above. I have to throw Cereus #11 into the mix. Really nice warm weather scent with subtle anise and vetiver being the main players. This really shines on a warm sunny day. Ebay has several for 33.00 and under but not too many left. Quality fragrance.
Also another vote for pour homme soir(Bulgari)

I personally find Encre Noir light and fresh, certainly not insipid, and not citrus. Some find EN darker and smokier, and compared to some other vetivers, maybe it is. Sounds like vetiver could be a good path for you.

Light and Fresh would not be in my description of Encre Noir.

Indeed Encre Noire is not, that's why I suggested Vetiver Hombre as I do think vetiver can be a good direction for the OP!
