    Default ambe sultan

Just blind bought Ambre Sultan. I felt the itch for a Christmas present to me. I hope it delivers. It sounds like a wonderful fragrance.

To disagree with everyone above, it's quite likely you may be disappointed.

It's a dangerous blind buy due to the strong herbs and amber.

This is a dangerous blind buy, even with someone with a seasoned nose. The opening can be very off putting. I hope you love it and would like to hear your thoughts.

I agree that the opening may be a little strong if your not used to it but once it dries down it smells awesome. I think you will like it.

Great long lasting and developing fragrance ending up after a few hours in a warm ambery vanillaish smell! Projection is not loud after the opening and longevity is 12+ hrs but very close to the skin after 6 hours.
Put your nose in a oregano jar to get used to the opening, lol!

Certainly one of the 3 top amber fragrances - if you don't like this one, you just don't like amber. But it's not something you will wear for all occasions.

Got a sample of it and found it to be too sweet, too much vanilla for my tastes. Seems to be a little more for the ladies. It smells better on my wife.

I don't know - I don't personally see it as a dangerous blind buy if you like a lot of other ambers. It's among the best, I think. Hope you enjoy!

Well he's screwed if he doesn't like it! I never recommend blind-buying... especially something like this that reeks a bit.

I blind bought this as well, though I read all of the reviews I could get my hands on, and I know that I like both amber and herbal scents. I love it, and I hope you do as well!

Hey, I didn't like amber until I got samples of Amouage Opus VI, then I got hooked. I ended up getting Tom Ford Amber Absolute as well - another bombastic and super strong release.

I can't believe I have not tried any SL fragrances yet... How does Ambre Sultan compare to the above two?

Again, the herbal portion which I find Devine, is also short lived. I also enjoy MpG Ambre Precieux , awesome frag. BUT for my $1 Ambre Sultan is the pick. All the more reason to buy decants and decide for yourself. In the end, I needed to buy bottles of both....

I prefer both of these by quite a margin. I wore a sample of Ambre Sultan today and it just isn't for me. I kind of wish it was because you can get a whale of a deal on a bottle from Amazon right now.

It hasn't arrived yet, but I am anxiously awaiting it. I have been working on a sample of Ambre Nue and I am really enjoying this. If Ambre Sultan is a miss, then I may end up with a full bottle of this. Even if I dig Ambre Sultan, I may end up with a FB of Ambre Nue!

Ambre Nue is a beautiful perfume. Its also without any of the Spice Rack smell you're going to get with Ambre Sultan.

I agree with Spoombung. A good scent for sure, but not a safe blind buy by any means.

I have a bell jar of this. Not bought blind. I liked it well enough to buy it. It is very powerful, however. I found that it was a little too intense for me. I have to admit I don't reach for it much. It just whomps me over the head when I wear it. It's a beautiful thing, though.

I think it may be more suitable for a man. A guy who REALLY likes benzoin and resins.

It's great. I think the spicy, herbal quality that comes out in the top is an excellent way to balance the rich and powdery-sweet amber that comprises the rest of the fragrance. It's cozy, easy to wear, and a really good choice for the fall and winter.

    You picked a good one.

My belated congratulations for this purchase. Eager to find out whether you liked it- in my opinion, this fragrance is rich, complex and classy in many ways, there is quite a likeliness of a rewarding blind buy.

I got amber and A LOT of oregano, the herbs killed it for me. Wouldn't rec for a blind buy but do hope it works out!.

I actually REALLY love the slightly bitter herbs in the opening. It's my favorite part of the scent - but I'm not a big fan of amber. This is one amber fragrance that I enjoy although I do find it cloying at times.

I got my bottle today, and WOW what a fantastic fragrance. Truly a classy elegant fragrance. I put a dab on my wrist and enjoyed the first hour very much. I had to shower and get ready for work. I could still smell it after showering. I wore Prada Amber for work and continued to smell this devine scent for the nwxt 8 hours. I am happy to say this is a beautiful fragrance I am happy to own.

See what I mean? Silkwood showering is what is required! Thank goodness you like it. Congratulations. It is pretty. Very exotic, I think. Makes me think of Lawrence of Arabia.

It's great scent that represents a great poster child of what Serge Lutens is trying to achieve in his creations : Let the wearer experience a random situation inside a story or tale or adventure.

You are the Sultan of Amber, with all the other goodies and bonuses that come along with being a sultan

Congratulations and glad you like it. I love herbal dirty Ambre Sultan, so many amber fragrances have that sweet vanilla fudge vibe.
