Chicagoista, I will say a prayer today for your aunt's family.

Zagorsk (Series 3: Incense) by Comme des Garcons

One of the first bottles I've ever owned from CdG, this one is like a concentrated cabin-in-the-woods-in-the-snow in a bottle. I rarely wear it, but when I pull it out & dust it off it still blows me away. It doesn't hit you over the head with conifers like a Slumberhouse or others like that, yet it's crisp wood note intermingled with a vivid and realistic incense note is meditative, easy and strikingly familiar. Perfect for Christmas Eve.

"The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not the "thinker." The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realize that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence. You also realize that all the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace - arise from beyond the mind.

    You begin to awaken"

Chicagoista my many condolences on your loss.

    and

Happy birthday Chronia polla. It is my name day (equivalent to birthday celebrations).

Tonight I am wearing (thanks to the lovely Pierre Guillaume) Isparta his new fragrance coming next year.

It is a exquisite rose incense with top notes of pomegranate (but smells first of berries to me). The Isparta roses are so beautiful in this and it takes me back to Byzantium with the wild roses and the incense of the orthodox community there at the time. With the pomegranate (or berries) note it reminds me of Persephone taking it to Hades and the promise of spring.

Hope everyone has a happy and peaceful time, at this season of celebration.

Already Xmas Day here and it's the strangest I've ever experienced. Up early, cloudless sky, 70 degrees, and about to hit the decking with strawberries and champagne. Difficult to imagine the cold, rain, and gales back home. (Teardrop, that sounded like a very close shave - I'm so glad you are OK).

Chicagoista, my sincerest condolences on your loss.

A happy birthday to Chicagoista, & Xronia Polla to Sea Roses!

Thanks Jon, it certainly was close. A Merry Christmas to you! The weather calmed down a bit today, but apparently it'll turn bad again later in the week... Fortunately all we lost was another fence panel, but some folks are still without power and/or flooded. My heart goes out to them.
