Default A "mainstream" and "non-offensive" leather based fragrance?

My friend says he likes "leather-y" and "woods-y" colognes.

So I'm looking for an easily accesible and inexpensive (sub $70) cologne.

Dior Fahrenheit is out of the question.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Armani Code is both mainstream and non-offensive. It has that leather note you're looking for and is balanced with fresh and spicy notes of citrus, olive blossom, anise and tonka. Very popular and very versatile.

Seek out a vintage bottle of Léonard pour Homme on eBay. It is a gorgeous easy to wear and appreciate leather that is within your price range.

    How about John Varvatos (Original)?

Fahrenheit is one of my all time favorites, but it'd be the furthest thing from my mind if I was looking for something leathery.

What a great suggestion! Varvatos original (it's actually just named "John Varvatos" if I'm not mistaken) is such an underrated fragrance.

Bvlgari Black or Fan di Fendi.
If you had more money I'd say go to Tuscan Leather from Tom Ford, one of the best leathers ever -- but on that budger, stick with bvlgari black or fan di fendi

Varvatos and the flankers etc. are also great suggestions.
I would stay away from anything Joop...

AH! Tony T hit the nail on the head, Pure Leather...that's another GREAT one.

I'd go for the Fan di Fendi, John Varvatos, A*Men Pure Leather, or Bvlgari Black suggestions as well.

I'll also throw in 1 Million if he tends to like a sweeter scent - there's leather in there, too.

Cerruti L'Essence fits the description perfectly. Also other options:
    Herrera Ch Men
    Varvatos original

Not a fan of Fan di Fendi pour Homme, sorry. Other than the original John Varvatos, you should try Aigner Black. Or better yet, Elsha 1776. 4 oz bottle still available for $30 or less on eBay.

Thanks guys... So I'm doing research of Fan Di Fendi, Cerruti L'Essence, and Blvgari Black.

I was also thinking of Aramis. A very dry, resinous leather chypre that can still be gotten very cheaply. Go a little easy on the trigger and you'll be in heaven.

Another vote for JV. Not based on the leather notes, strictly on the quality of the scent.

So it's between Fan di Fendi and L'essence.

My issue is that the reviews from Fragrantica state that the Leather is a light background to non-existent... on BOTH fragrances.

Out of the two, I'm inclined to L'essence cuz it resembles "Vince Camuto" which my friend just ran out of.

Habanita EdP can be had for under 50 bucks, and it is a classic.
