Rive Gauche Pour Homme -- the spicy opening could be mature. But, after 30-45 mins. it develops into a smooth, semi-sweet woodsy scent.

Terre D' Hermes, Encre Noir, or even Puig's Quorum

    I like:

    Fougere Royale
    Lubin Itasca
    Divine L'homme sage
    Puredistance M
    Kiel's orignal musk
    Chanel Sycomore or Malle's VE
Helmut Lang's Cuiron is fantastic too but hard to find and VERY expensive...

I can totally relate to how you feel with sweet scents as they've really become something I'm very sensitive to lately. I used to wear YSL L'homme and Chanel Allure Sport because of ex girlfriends and I can't stand them now. Way too sweet and cloying to my nose.

I just recently purchased Aventus after being oblivious of the hype and I can honestly say it's awesome! Totally masculine, not at all sweet, and I've honestly been amazed at how many compliments I've gotten from it (which is not at all why I wear fragrances), but it is a well crafted modern male fragrance for any age in my mind. I love TdH but think it is a bit too mature and does have a slight old man vibe (hey, I'm an old man, haha), Rive Gauche for a 19 year old, no way in my opinion. Good luck in your search!

Pascal Morabito's OR BLACK . If you can survive the brutal opening, it's simply a remarkable fragrance . Look no further.

I strongly suggest that you try Uomo by Carthusia. If you like Platinum Egoiste, this is in the same ballpark (though doesn't smell the same at all), but so much better.
    Current Top Ten:
    1) Polo Crest
    2) Chypre Palatin
    3) 34 Boulevard Saint Germain
    4) One Man Show Gold Edition
    5) Kouros (Vintage)
    6) Mamluk
    7) Tobacco Vanille
    8) Interlude Man
    9) More than Words
    10) Ungaro II (Vintage)

Terre d'Hermes (edt version): classy, earthy, orange
Dior Homme Sport: lemons & ginger with iris and cedar
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver: very modern vetiver, classy and bright
Creed Aventus: may start fruity but smokiness takes over
