Gatsby by Pacoma, of course...
I'm attending a modern Great Gatsby soiree, and am looking for the right scent for it. What would you guys wear?
Gatsby by Pacoma, of course...
Current Top Favorites:
1) Portrait of a Lady (EdP Frédéric Malle)
2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie
6) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
Haha, makes sense. I'll read the reviews now!
Funny, we're having one of those in my neck of the woods also. Don't own too many uber manily/old school type frags, but I'd probably rock YSL Rive Gauche for this!
Knize Ten I believe is more or less from the same year as the novel, and it has survived in excellent state. It is probably a bit too elegant for Gatsby, though, but the era is right. (I have some ideas on what current overpriced, nouveau riche, and slightly vulgar brands would ... but let's leave it at that).
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals don't warrant or deserve other individuals' acknowledgement or respect.
Knize Ten since it is from that era.
Knize Ten is one of the more recommended ones in regards to leathery vanilla, so I may give that a shot. I'm headed to Barney's today to sample Portrait of a Lady, so I'll see if they have Bel Ami and Knize 10.
Douse yourself in GIT or Prada Amber.
My top ten, in no particular order:
Eau Des Baux
Halston Man Amber
Mugler Pure Havane
Green Irish Tweed
D&G The One Gentleman
Bay rum was very popular in that era
Guerlain- Sous les Vent

Or look to the sound track for inspiration:
Back to Black
Tiffany for Men would fit the bill, as would Creed Windsor; I've always thought Edward VIII, for whom it was created, to be the epitome of Gatsby.

Well, ten years later, but how about Caron Pour Un Homme (1934)
My first impression was Jicky or Mouchoir de Monsieur. I think I like the Knize Ten suggestions better, though.

"Perfume and incense make the heart glad..."
Hammam Bouquet or Habit Rouge.
Bois du Portugal or Vintage Tabarome.
Mugler Cologne. Because . . . wait for it! . . . it's green and it's light.
For a woman, Marc Jacobs Daisy!
For a man, I would say Mouchoir de Monsieur.
"No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this." Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami, Album 1999.
Fahrenheit should do.
"Trafalgar" by Truefitt & Hill or other similar classic colognes.
Perhaps also Floris No. 127, Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet or (reportedly Fitzgerald's signature fragrance) Lieber Gustav by Krigler
I too am going to a Gatsby themed party so this thread helped. I think I will go with spicebomb.
