I really enjoyed BAV and found it one of the most interesting creations by Ellena in quite some years…for those interested, here's my full review, No need to say I immediately committed to a full bottle.

I can't wait until it hits our shores. I was told March 1. I was at a Hermes boutique this week and picked up some other stuff, they did not have the exact date when they will be getting BAV. Since it has to be shipped the slow route, not air, they could only say there may be a delay if the ship cargo takes longer to cross the big pond. I can't wait to get this one - haven't sampled it yet but since I love BA and vetiver, I can't imagine this would not be to my liking. Definitely getting a big bottle as soon as it makes it here to the west coast.

I always enjoy your reviews Alrarom, and I tend to like the same stuff as you.....one question on this one though. How is the projection? My worry is that it sits pretty close to the skin.

Thanks for your kind words. Projection is generally something that doesn't concern me one bit. As long as I like the composition, I'm fine either the fragrance projects or not. In the case of BAV, which is all about restraint, I would say it's pretty close to the skin. Definitely not a projection monster.

Thank you sir. Sometimes, fragrantica can be good to find a consensus, but on this one, it's all over the place and no consensus.

Oh can't wait to smell this. Although I am not sure I can afford a full bottle. Maybe I'll participate in a bottle split...

I bought mine last week and am really enjoying it! So far, my only complaint about Bel Ami Vetiver has been less-than-stellar longetivity. But after only two full wearings so far, I'd like to give it some more time for a final verdict.

Has anyone in the US actually seen this in a Hermes boutique yet? The one here hasn't 'launched it' yet.

The official US launch date is March 1. However, I spoke couple days ago with my local SA at Hermes boutique in San Diego, and they did not have confirmation whether they will have it available on this exact date. Since fragrances have to be shipped the slow way (ship cargo) and not by air, there could be a delay in getting them to US boutiques.

I'm on pins and needles myself - can't wait to get a big bottle myself. Bel Ami is one of my all time favorite fragrances, so this one with amplified vetiver in it is already a big winner in my books - and I have not even tried it yet. ;-) The reviews I've read confirm it's a good release, worthy of a full bottle - I'll be in line to get mine as soon as it's released here.

I wore this for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed it. I only gave it a timid 2.5 sprays (the 0.5 due to the pump-priming effect) but it lasted a good eight hours. I'm giving it 4 today to boost strength. That said it is way better than your average Hermessence potency. (And much better value for £). I am reminded of two other Ellena creations, namely TdH (citrus/vetiver) and Vetiver Tonka (due to a mild nutty sweetness, although it's nowhere near as sweet as VT). It's less spicy than the original Bel-Ami and the leather note is more or less the same smell, although toned down a bit. I'm sure it'll prove popular.

This what i came to share here after several test sprays and a full wearing yesterday.

BAV is a worthy twist to the Bel Ami theme and a must-sample for those who like vetiver more as a team-player than the star. A frag i am so glad i bought. I already have the Original Bel Ami and Veiver Tonka and do not consider BAV a redundant addition.

Ten years (!) of dissapointments from Ellena. Let's see if he can win me over again. Alfarom liking it that much is certainly a good sign for me too.

I was able to test this one at the Hermes boutique today... Basically this is a mix of the original Bel Ami and Hermessence Vetiver Tonka! Starts very similar to Vetiver Tonka with a weird (gasoline?) note then dries down sharing something with the original Bel Ami (the leather notes maybe.)

I don't think this is blind buy worthy, especially if you already own vetiver tonka!

Aaaawwwwwww, hawk, you are making me salivate at just the thought of what this new BAV smells like!!! I *love* the original Bel Ami, and I love Vetiver Tonka. The combination of the two sounds like a match made in heaven. For a change, this may be a very good flanker. I, for one, am definitely getting a bottle as soon as it's available down here in SoCal. Can't wait.

I don't like VT because it is too sweet for me whereas BAV is 'just right'. I also like the subdued leather note in BAV, but loud leather lovers may be disappointed. And the bitter citrus (which reminds me of TdH) is a nice addition, although I did not find that so long-lasting; unlike the leather note, which I can still smell this morning.

I also tried this in a Hermes boutique. I agree it's a cross between a non (or subdued) leather Bel Ami and Vetiver Tonka. Quite nice actually. I didn't ask how much it is but could be full bottle worthy.

Standard Hermes price just like their *regular* range.

Hermes has priced it at $125 on their on-line boutique. $15 shipping, plus tax if in NY. So, if $125 ends up as the MSRP for every sales channel, there may be opportunities to buy it via other retailers with free shipping and no tax. That would be a nice discount.

So Hermes has started with a new bottle design for Bel Ami, Bel Ami Vetiver, and Equipage modeled after the older one used with Verte d'Orange. I like it much more over the last bottle cap shape (simple straight dowel type). I wonder if this is simply a bottle change or if there has been another reformulation to Bel Ami and Equipage.

The Hermes manager told me today in the boutique that they have simply repackaged the fragrances in the new bottles without any other change.

I know this might be a personal question and certainly Im not asking for you to divulge WHERE you live (due to privacy issues) but where do you live to have a Hermes Boutique so close to you? Im in Florida and theres NOTHING like that here as far as I am aware of....Are you in the states Henic ? If so, which state ? Perhaps the city (within reason)? I've always wanted to know how some of the fragrance gurus on here have such easily access to exceptional scents....

I hope this isnt getting TOO personal, but was curious....

    Thanks Hednic....
