    Default Joop!

    Hello Gents,

I'm posting a photo, could anyone confirm if this indeed is the box design for the original
formula Joop!,and not the infamous reformulated formula ?

Also if someone owns a similar box and bottle, could they please provide a few photos of the
front, back and ingredients list ?

    Thank you for your time,
    Regards.

That one might be reformulated but it isn't the current version so I'm not sure to be honest. I know this is truly the original verison:

As I understand it, the upper photo is the 2nd generation design, the lower photo is the original. The current bottle is the 3rd generation design. I have the newest version and it doesn't smell much different than the very original I owned 12 years ago.

Yes, the original versions of both Joop Homme and Joop Femme have the flower/tree logo thing at the top of the box, with Homme/Femme beneath it.

The 2nd versions omit the flower/tree logo thing but still have Homme/Femme at the top.

The 3rd versions, now current, omit the Homme/Femme and just have Joop!

I recall reading a comparison of these recently which said that the 2nd version was closer to the original than the 3rd version, particularly in the drydown. Even more IFRA restrictions have kicked in since the release of the 2nd version, and real sandalwood has become more difficult to source, which most likely account for these changes in the current version.

Another identifier is the sprayer will have the cornflower logo etched in the top.

I have the second and third. Third seems to lack good sandalwood note and so there is nothing to "cut" the cloying qualities. I suggesting avoiding that one.

Just purchased this bottle for 10$, I presume this is the second version ?

If people can put up photos of the "Lancaster" version and its
ingredient list, It may help out somebody else.

Just sprayed this half an hour ago on my forearm, Initial impressions :

Great sprayer, shoots out a good quantity.
The first thing that came to my mind was Mont Blanc's Individuel.
I made sure to keep my nose atleast 4 inches away so as to not
    fry my nose bulb.

I can make out initially notes of warm cinnamon and fennel seeds,
the fennel note is almost liquid, in the sense the note represents a
cooling drink in India which is mixed with sugar.

The notes are very balmy and dense and it takes a little while to
    separate them.

These two notes are mixed with another note that envelopes them
which took me a while to figure out, and in my humble opinion is
similar to the aroma of ripe black grapes.

This is just the first half hour.

    Regards.

This one is indeed the second version.
I own this one as well and used sparingly it will give you a great drydown!

Yes the cinnamon is greatly toned down now, its been about 4 hours now.

What I can detect is something identical to the drydown of JPG's Le Male,
with an added cherry note to it, it reminds me of a soft smooth wood note,
Could this be the sandalwood ?

I can still smell the notes at about 2 inches distance, so 4 hours later it is
still projecting, but its not a monster scent which refuses to calm down,
which makes me wonder whether all the hype is about the first version
or is just blown out of proportion because people tend to overspray it.

Even the drydown is quite simillar to Mont Blanc's Individuel.

    Regards.
