Volutes for me.
Back to Black
Thread: The best niche is...?
Another kind of post that isn´t new. Nevertheless, shall you do kind of a fragrance competition?
The idea is to have a group of 3 fragrances, the most "similar" possible. The poll results wil be considered for a week period.
This poll is for Niche fragrances. Designer will have also a competition. After that, having the winners for each round, we will simply choose the one we like the most, I mean, the winners from Niche vs Designer.
Suggestions of trios for competition can be made.
So, the first round maybe a hard one: Diptyque Volutes, Serge Lutens Chergui or By Kilian Back to Black?

Own all three, I'd go with Back to Black.

All nice. Tough choice, but went with Back to Black.
Chergui, but I could certainly go with Back to Black.
Guys, glad to see your opinion, but I think you´re not voting...! Please, do that.
Own two of the three. B2B for me.
Current Top Ten:
1) Chypre Palatin
2) APOM Pour Homme
3) Interlude Man
4) One Man Show Gold Edition
6) Kouros (Vintage)
7) Tobacco Vanille
8) 34 Boulevard Saint Germain
9) More than Words
10) Le Male (Vintage)
Volutes is nice but B2B is better.
Back to Black
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals don't warrant or deserve other individuals' acknowledgement or respect.
Back to Black, but I have not tested Chergui yet.
Volutes for me. The Hippospeaks the truth.
Chergui ahead of Back to Black.
Haven't tried the other two, but Back to Black is an absolute masterpiece. So it gets my vote
Celebrating 10 years on Basenotes - and smelling better than ever
My mission statement: "I am not afraid to keep on living - I am not afraid to walk this world alone."
none of them really....
Chergui! honey ,tobacco and Hay. Its cuddle weather scent !
Guys, I think it would be a good idea to state the house beside the fragrance,
not all BNr's can recognise the frag from just the name, let alone having access to it in the firts place
e.g. a post would go: "I like CdG a lot"
a newbie reads the post and thinks "what on earth is this CdG"?
Interesting results, so far!
Salim96, I must say you´re right. I´ve written the house of each fragrance in post 1.
Voted back to black by accident when meant to vote for Chergui...Chergui to me is better then TV or any in this specific list to vote for in its specific genre...
"Thank GOD for the nose, for without it we would not be enjoying these beautiful created Scents" also Remember "Balance is everything and the key to appreciating "
Very slight edge to B2B from Chergui

Maybe the mods could make this thread a sticky?
I voted for Chergui because it's a classic niche scent. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
I'll vote when I find a pin...
Chergui is on fire.
Back to Black
diptyque Volutes for me
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
Clarice Lispector ( 1920-1977) - Perfumes da Terra / Earth Perfumes
Chergui definitely. Love the other 2 as well though.
In this order to me: Chergui-Volutes-b2b. I wear all of them btw.
In my swap list: Gucci Pour Homme (2003) BNIB.
I'm looking for Reflection Man or Andy Warhol (silver bottle w/Andy's face)
I have Chergui and it's a bit overrated. I think some people have hinted at a possibly reformulation so even niche fragrances aren't immune to such changes. My bottle is supposedly produced in 2013 so perhaps an older bottle with a previous formulation was more impressive. Right now Chergui is still nice but nothing amazing.
Love them all. It's like apples, pears and oranges.
"No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this." Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami, Album 1999.
I have them all. They have their pro & con.
Volutes is the most light & versatile.
Chergui & B2B are more sweet & complex.
***My favourite from my collection***
-------- Amouage Tribute Attar
------ Serge Lutens: Ambre Sultan
-------- Les Exclusifs de Chanel: Sycamore
------ Amouage: Fate Man
-------- Amouage: Epic Man
------ Tom Ford Private Blend: Noir de Noir
-------- Terre D'Hermès Pure Parfum
------ EDP FM: Carnal Flower
-------- Neela Vermire Creations: Trayee

------- Hermèssence: Ambre Narguilé
I find Back to Black horrible. I like Chergui best, although I agree on Ronin about the fact it is overrated.
2. Volutes (in EDP)
If Volutes Edt, change place with Chergui
