Default Patchouli samples on the way

The lovely Cacio (basenotes member) has recently provided me with a Eureka moment by commenting on another thread that it appears I like patchouli. Oh yeah. Penny drops. So *that's* how come I like both Angel and L'Air de Rien. I just ordered a handful of patchouli samples from Aus Liebe zum Duft. Exciting. They are:

    L'Artisan Parfumeur - Patchouli Patch
Bond No. 9 - New York Patchouli
Bond No. 9 - Nuits de Noho
    Montale - Patchouli Leaves

I also ordered L'Artisan Dzongkha, just for kicks.

I'll report back here when they meet my nose.

I really want to try Serge Lutens Borneo 1832 but it is apparently impossible to find in the UK. I will try in London when I go to pick up my Coromandel

i own the two L'Artisans and the Montale, and I think you are going to really like those three. They're very nice. Congrats on all your acquisitions!

Thanks Hednic. You know, you just reminded me that I spent a fair bit of time at the Bond No. 9 bar in Harrods last summer and I really didn't like any of them. (Especially the revolting Chinatown). There's even something about the branding - the bottles, the names - that I don't like. So I have probably been a bit stupid getting 2 (including one very expensive) samples, but oh well, they are only samples. I was reading a Fragrantica article about Patchouli and it mentioned these, so...

I have not tried the two mentioned, but a good patchouli from Bond I have tried good is HOT always. It's a fun, in your face, slightly animalic patch. (I am not a huge fun of the brand in general, but in the number they do have a few really good perfumes. that said, Chinatown is one of them for me).

Lutens Borneo used to be in the export line, I don't know if it is being pulled from the export line, in which case it will be available only from Paris. It is somewhat similar to Coromandel, though Coromandel is smoother and warmer and Borneo is dustier and chocolaty.

When a member continually follows another around the site with the intention of harassing them, there are consequences. In this case a one week vacation after another recent event.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see Atelier Mistral Patchouli mentioned.

Reminiscence has three Patchouli based perfumes:

    Patchouli
    Patchouli pour homme
    Patchouli Elixir

They are a perfect starting point for anyone wanting to explore patchouli. Well , other then smelling the oil itself.

    for swap/sale:

I own the Montale, Coromandel & Borneo 1834 & all 3 are quite good. Cacio was kind enough to send me a few samples of patchouli prominent fragrances (sort of developing my nose process) & I really liked PG's Intrigand Patchouli from his lot. Other one which was very good was Patchouli Indonesiano from Farmacia SS.

    Enjoy your samples...
