Yes it is
Thread: Vintage Egoiste Chanel
We know its way different than Cologne Concentree, but is it considerably different than the reform? I've read it's not, but wonder if opinions have changed.
My bottle looks very much like the one pictured. Great stuff.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve other individuals' acknowledgement or respect.
I believe so, owing to it's having "Eau De Toilette" written above Chanel..
I just received a sample of it today.
Is this one much different than the current formulation????
Still have my bottle of the Cologne Concentrée from way back in the 90s, and it still smells great. If this one is close to that, you're in for a lot of enjoyment.
“When you step back from stressing the parts,
when the mind becomes still, the rose comes to you,
unfolds in you in all her glory.
The perfume invades you completely.
The rose is you. You are one.”
Nice to know that the reformulation isn't strikingly different. I have a small 7.5ml bottle of vintage Egoiste Concentree and it's nice... but a bit too punchy for my nose. I prefer Pour Monsieur Concentree. So maybe I should look at the regular Egoiste. Does it differ much from Pour Monsieur?

Which year was Egoiste reformulated? I have a bottle bought 4 years ago, and the stayingpower and sillage is excellent. 2 sprays is more than enough, and it smells divine.
I'd say it is "vintage", from 1992.
if there is NO greendot on the box, well, it's before 1992-1993 for sure
love this juice!
Unfortunately, I don't think the same about Platinum Egoiste. For some reason, it smells ruined to me, compared to the original 90's bottle.
I would love to find some vintage Egoiste, maybe one day.
In addition to my mid-90s Cologne Concentrée, I also have a bottle I purchased new maybe two years ago. The new one isn't as dense and rich as the CC (but that's to be expected), but it's certainly not weak or "wimpy" or any such thing. It lasts all day, easily, and I have to be judicious with the application. It also smells pretty great, no slouch even next to its more opulent older brother.
I purchased my bottle directly from Chanel earlier this year and am very happy with the strength and persistence. If I owned the vintage, I'm guessing I'd apply less than today's version, which I find very wearable.
This has got me wondering if there was any kind of reformulation last year when it was suddenly made much more widely available again (at least in UK) ?
It is absolutely worthwhile tracking down a vintage bottle. I have a 100ml bottle of the current formulation, direct from the Chanel website, which I have been using for the last two years. This vintage formulation is just how I remember my first ever sample. It is significantly richer, significantly better sillage and longevity. Now _this_ is Egoiste!
egoiste vintage is fine, but reformulation is more enjoyable and less loud!
check your ego at the door!
The same here. My bottle is from October 2012 and it gives me immense pleasure, don't think a more potent scent would do any better than that. A peace of tissie papper with one or two sprays will fill my bedroom for days, and very comforting also. I do respect people's oppinions and to each one ... but I think going after a vintage scent is like going through a time machine, and I do enjoy living in the present, thank you very much. The things change for a collector, of course.
