I own both and think both are decent... not sure if I'm able to distinguish which one of the two is better though. If I haaaaaad to pick, probably Martinique.

Never ever seen this maker in Australia, very interested in trying them but. I hear the Set Sail St. Barts one is quite good.

I own them all except for Set Sail Martinique, I had a sample of this and really didn't like it. To me, it smelled like Nautica Voyage mixed with grape jelly or something, but then it got powdery in the dry down. The original is pretty good, woodsy and spicy, probably not for a younger person. St Barts and South Seas are both awesome. St Barts though, has pretty bad longevity in the heat, on me.. heat is supposed to increase a fragrances performance.. not in this case though. When I wear it on a cool day, I can get 6+ hours though. South Seas lasts all day and smells like fruit loops, I really like this one the best, and it's so underrated.. closest comparable scent is Kenzo Power. Very Cool is a unique one for sure. It's like a menthol, minty, metallic, citrus/green scent with a medicinal feel and a chilling effect.. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't good. Think Allure Homme Sport but with more going on.. a lot more.

If I had to choose one though, it'd be South Seas. I am likely int he minority choosing this one, which works for me, less people will be wearing it.

    Fahrenheit (1988)
    Paul Smith Man (2009)

Hands down it's set sail st. Bart's! Very cool was just ok for me and I couldn't stand the original TB, on me it just smelt like nothing but pencil shavings. Yuck!!!

Not sure where you're located, but St. Barts/Martinique/Very Cool are all frequently available at TJ Maxx/Marshalls for $19.99/100ml.

I have and like the original (brown bottle), VC, SSM and SSSB.

I prefer the original. I do not get pencil shavings. I was referred to this by a friend in his early 20s so would not be concerned about an age restriction. IMO, all seem to be appropriate for all ages.

I have found all to be FBW, especially considering that the 100ml bottles go for $20 at TJ Maxx / Marshalls. I have not seen the original in a while -- it seems to be getting scarce -- I have read here on the BN boards that it is discontinued.

There may be some truth to the discontinuation rumors, as there is a newer fragrance under the same name as the original but in a orange bottle that is nothing like the original in the brown bottle. The new version in the orange bottle is not FBW IMO.

    Regards,

    TC

Don't think any of them are worth going out of your way to try. I keep very cool in my gym bag because it just smells clean, but not special and definitely does not even remotely resemble allure homme sport. St. Bart's smells unique; but again, isn't all that great.

Just curious. Has anyone from this thread even tried South Seas? They often have this one at discount stores too, but everyone seems to overlook it. It's a gorgeous scent, you don't know what you're missing.

I've been on the lookout for a couple years now for SS and st. Martinique but they never have it at my local Ross/TJ. Only come across the original, st. Bart's and very cool.
