Default Guerlain Heritage vs. Chanel Egoiste

There's a few of these threads going on today, so why not a battle of the spicy-woody-orientals?

Heritage for me, better yet in the EdP form but still with the EdT over Egoiste.

Egoiste is excellent indeed but as with most Chanel's, it does not perform well on my skin. I cannot much get longevity or any projection from it after the first 1/2 hour or so. I have a bottle from the early 2000's and it was the same way back when it was introduced. This is my third bottle and I still like it and wish to have it in the accumulation. And BTW, to my nose, it has definitely been reformulated but so has Heritage.

I prefer Heritage , but I don't consider it a spicy -oriental scent. Just my opinion.

Glad to have both in the wardrobe. If forced to choose - Egoiste.

Own both in Edt. Egoiste is masterpiece. Heritage not, but still a marvellous dark fragrance similar to ZINO

Own both, prefer Egoiste. It works well with my skin chemistry, lasts and projects all day, and I love the scent (Cologne Concentree even more so). Heritage is nice but somehow to me it's a little too fussy, slightly old school ostentatious, even. Don't feel comfortable wearing it - it feels like it wears me rather than the other way around. When I wear it, it's at home alone on a cool evening in front of a fireplace catching up on a book I started reading months ago but never finished. Egoiste - I can wear just about any day, any occasion.

    This.

Curiously, I also think Zino is close to a dead ringer for Heritage. I thought it was just me.

The most severe, unsmiling frags in their respective houses. Not that that's a bad thing. I'd have to go with goste.

Enjoying both and quite likely including both on a future shopping list, but preferring Egoiste by a slight margin.

I love both equally. It's like my twin babies. Asking me to choose is like asking me to choose between my left and right....hand.

I wouldnt consider heritage as a spicy oriental. It's more towards a complex masculine floral amber chypre to me while egoiste is a softened, elegant sandalwood scent.

    Heritage by a long shot.

They're both terrific but also different enough from each other that I'd still want both in my collection. If I had to pick one, it would be Heritage. I find it more versatile.

    EDIT:
Now I'm not so sure. I have a 7.5ml bottle of the Egoiste Concentree. And I hear that certain notes are more pronounced, changing the character of Egoiste cologne (while still maintaining the overall signature). I prefer Pour Monsieur Concentree as the Egoiste Concentree is a bit much for me. I'll have to get a vintage bottle of Egoiste cologne. Glad to see it's not nearly as pricey! At least in recent times... All of these older formulations will probably keep going up and as 2014 realizes an improved economy, everything is going to start rising.

I vote for egoiste - it has that spicy-woody-sweet aspect that I actually like, compared to my traditional preference of herbal-citrus-floral-wood combo

Now, that's a tough one... Own and love both, Egoiste wins just because I feel I can wear it more often, even as a signature everyday scent. Can't imagine wearing Heritage more than 3-4 times a month but it's great nonetheless.

Heritage is a great composition from a very highly thought of house and I enjoy it. But Egoiste just brings a smile to my face. I feel so much more comfortable in it. It exudes power and warmth equally.

Don't like Egoiste, but Heritage is imo the best offering from Guerlain. Voted Heritage.
