I would like to ask if you reapply fragrances throughout the day? and where do you spray when you reapply?
I do reapply after 4 hours - 6hours,
8 AM - First application before going to work
1/2PM, after 4-6 hours, reapply, spray my chest (pull my shirt); respray my hair
8PM, leaving work another reapplication on my hair and chest
is it too much? lol
How do you go about it basenotes?
Depends on the fragrance.
Don't reapply. After I'm done in the morning that's it for that scent.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
Yes. Day/Work scent. Shower. Evening scent.
Thanks for feedback it is really indeed hit or miss with reapplication. Oh well, reapplication will help finish bottles of my perfumes so that is a check on my book
on the reversal for monstrously long fragrances with good drydowns (like musc ravager or angel men). i apply at 11pm when i go to bed, like a maniac. then i wake up and it'll stay on until the afternoon.
I reapply usually. Apply at 620 am, and reapply after my workout at lunch (upon which I shower and wash anything off of me), so I put on another spray (usually only 1 because Ill be in the office anymore would offend folks), then Im good till end of day. Most of the time I will wear a different fragrance at home that evening (something comforting)
Yes, if necessary.
"Thank GOD for the nose, for without it we would not be enjoying these beautiful created Scents" also Remember "Balance is everything and the key to appreciating "
I cant while im at work so that's a no and by the time I get home I may apply another scent for around the house.
My Top '10' : (In no particular order)
- Dolce & Gabbana: Pour Homme (vintage)
- Van Cleef & Arpels: Pour Homme
- Armani: Acqua di Gio Profumo
- Davidoff: Leather Blend Edp
- Ferrari: Essence Oud Edp
- Chanel: Platinum Egoiste
- YSL: Kouros (Fraîcheur)
- Dior: Fahrenheit (Aqua)
- Mancera: Cedrat Boise
- Knize Ten
I don't really have any fragrances that I need to reapply. I generally wear two fragrances a day. One after my morning shower and another after I shower at night.
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel. Proverbs 27:9 KJV
Rarely. But if I do so, only the same fragrance and only if the initial application lasted and projected very weakly.
After working out I reapply.
Throughout the day, yes . Depends on the fragrance, but approximately every 4 hours. (My skin type is very dry and consumes a lot of fragrance and therefore usually i get poor longevity)
Depending on the fragrance 1-6 Sprays to the chest- and 0,5- 2 sprays to the back neck. Sometimes a spray onto the forearm.

"Le parfum est la musique du corps"
Signature: Amouage Memoir Man “vintage” (Karine Vinchon-Spehner, 2010)
Current top fragrances:
Ungaro III [1st formulation "Made in France" ] (Jaques Polge/Francois Demachy, 1993)
Narciso Rodriguez For Him (Francis Kurkdjian, 2007)
Rochas Macassar (Nicolas Mamounas / Roger Pellegrino, 1980)
Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme [vintage] (Louis Monnet, 1978)
Domenico Caraceni 1913 (2007)
Typically I do not reapply. If I do, it is a new scent for the evening.
"All the best perfumes in history have something that smells like garbage in them; that's what keeps drawing you back."
I didn't use to but do on occasion now. It depends on the scent.
I do like to apply a scent in the morning and then another one later in the evening when I get home and get out of my suit,
If I do reapply the same scent whilst at work then it's usually no more than 2 sprays; one on the back of a hand and one on the side of my neck.
Depends on the fragrance , if it is linear I would re-apply after about 7 hours ( depends on the fragrance and weather).
If the fragrance in non-linear I wouldn't be able to enjoy the dry down if I re-apply. In this case I wait until the fragrance becomes a skin scent and only then I re-apply.
I usually tend to re-apply @ inner-elbows.
It depends on the fragrance but when I do, it's usually one spray to the neck and one or two to the wrists/forearms.
Again, depends on the fragrance - also my whereabouts. My sotd goes on right after the daily shower. If I'm at home or in and out of the house, I'll reapply as much as I wish at the end of the day, especially if I'm going out for the evening. At work, I usually have a mini of the fragrance with me. I take a break in the afternoon for coffee and a short stroll, and usually spritz a little while outdoors. It's just too noticeable to spray on a dose while at my desk or anywhere in the office. A little to the upper chest and to the wrists is enough. But there are some perfumes too strong for even a modest top-up if I'm going back into the office, so I wait until the end of the work day and let my fellow mass transit riders enjoy or suffer, as they will.
Sometimes I may reapply. Sometimes I just let it fade away so I can apply something different later on. Depends on the scent, what I have going on that day, my mood, etc. No science, but I do reapply quite often. Sometimes I will reapply quite often if I am home - I'm crazy like that.
I always apply lightly in general -- if someone isn't at least within 2 feet of me, or maybe even 6", they won't be able to smell my scent at all. So if I apply in the morning, and then am going out for the evening, I'll need to reapply during my evening preparations; even long-lasting scents will give up the ghost when applied so sparingly
I generally do not reapply so that I can experience the entire drydown.
I'm pretty close to the same as you. Depending on weather/scent strength ect., I put on 2-4 sprays at about 10am to start my day. Then at around 2:30-3pm I spray 1-2 to my wrists and touch them to my neck for a little refresh. Finally as I'm getting ready to head home at 7-7:30 I'll put 1-2 sprays on to finish off the day....or I'll skip this one(or even the mid day one)and apply something different when I get home/or before I go out for the evening.

A million percent THIS:
If I need a scent to last longer, I wear a scent that lasts longer. Cannabis Santal gives me 12 hours. Royal Oud gives me 18. Interlude Man gives me 24.
Gucci Pour Homme II
Histoires De Parfums 1725
Terre d'Hermes Parfum
Hanae Mori H.M. EDT
Wear about 3-4 fragrances a day
"When you become comfortable with uncertainty. infinite possibilities open up in your life"
-- Eckhart Tolle
I wouldn't reapply a beast of fragrance nor an average one. There's some however with really poor longevity and I carry a little decant. Ysl libre and d&g the one are horrible on me.
I never reapply the same fragrance, even if it's pretty fleeting. I usually wear two per day though...
