This sounds very nice, it does have some similarity to Cuir de Russie is seems like.

I adore floral leathers, so I also like Cuir Ottoman and Cuir de Lancome, and also Chanel Cuir de Russie.

    Very excited over this!

Default New Dior available 23 March -- CUIR CANNAGE

    From the blurb :

...' Cuir Cannage audaciously fuses rose, jasmine and iris (top notes) with contrasting manly robust base notes of leather to create a unique sensual woody experience ..' '...it's a combination of macho with feminine, delicate and rough, but somehow it works...'

This is part of the 'Privee' range and will be exclusively at Harrods from 23 March -- 150 for 125ml

I will definitely be testing this soon

    Early thoughts?

I'm glad Dior is maintaining some integrity with proper perfume making.

I'm such a leather ho that anything with Cuir on the name will get me interested to try it. Well, will wait until someone splits it lol
I hope it's not as hard to wear as Leather Oud but not as soft either.

I find it hilarious that the video, featured on the Dior website, shows the perfumer bottling and packaging each individual bottle, a la Tauer, interspersed with images of a tailor at work.

    Such marketing bull.

Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza launched in 2010. i fell in love and I bought 2 bottles on launch. I'm almost positive they were $95 or $98 (3.4oz). I finished 1 and and almost done with my second. So naturally i went to buy a couple more bottles before i run out.

    Its $144 now.

None of it means anything until I smell it. Price, bottle, notes, description, bla bla bla. There's plenty of total crap that costs a lot more than this. But good luck on a quality leather with IFRA regs being the way they are. Any phenolic leather worth a damn has already been reformulated into something placid and formless.

Definitely. But who knows, maybe Demachy got away with something no one else has been able to recently. :-) Unlikely. The last fragrance I smelled with the name Cuir in it contained none of it. Most of the so-called leather fragrances now smell like crisp wood, who knows what, rather than smelling like anything leathery: bitter-smelling isoquinolines, smoky rectified birch tar, etc.

    Smelling it right now.

It shares a strong resemblance to vintage Fahrenheit. That petroleum note.

I think I'm going to like it.

The leather note is like the type of leather in Peau d'Espagne. Medicinal & stark.

This is what Cuir 28 should've been.

People who generally like medicinal, challenging & bold compositions will like this.
This like vintage Fahrenheit, Cuir de Russe, Leather Oud, PureDistance M, Cuir Mauresque, Knize Ten & Nostalgia's opening to name a few.

SA gave me a 10ml decant which I am going to deplete expeditiously.

I don't consider Purdistance M either bold or leather, more of a highly concentrated but confused oriental. The vintage Knize Ten and vintage Fahrenheit part sounds good. Demachy's a great perfumer and Dior has access to anything it wants. Maybe there's some there there. Great pic !
