Default Recommendations for top quality "safe" scent

My two favourite fragrances are Aventus and Green Irish Tweed, but Im becoming increasingly frustrated about batch variations. The amount of research involved before purchasing these fragrances is just wrong; I can use my time much more productively!

So... Im after suggestions for some really classy alternatives to try. Im not necessarily looking for things with a similar vibe to Aventus and GIT, but that would be a bonus!. Anyways, heres what Im after:

a safe scent, something that's unlikely to offend most people
    at least 5+ hours longevity,
    good projection
something that's made with a higher proportion of natural ingredients

Retail price is not really an issue, happy to pay big bucks if it ticks the boxes!

    Many thanks.

The Atelier range is one of the safest houses..
Vetiver Fatal would fit that category..
    Tom Ford Grey Vetiver also..

    Welcome!

"Safe" is always difficult, you're always bound to find somebody who dislike something.

That said, in regular perfumery, Chanel Egoiste comes to mind (the regular Egoiste, not the Platinum version): smooth sandalwoody, with a touch of sweetness. So smooth that it's hard to think somebody strongly dislikes it.

For something more pricy, you can check into the Chanel or Dior exclusive lines (if they are sold where you live). Things like Chanel Sycomore (fresh woody) or Coromandel (warm ambery patchouli), or Dior Ambre Nuit (warm ambery).

Too bad about those pesky batch variations with Aventus. So many people like you drop in to mention or complain about Aventus and Creed.

My favorite "safe" scent is Creed Pure White Cologne. Yes, it's a Creed, but you don't have to worry about batch variations with this one.

    Others are...

    Creed MI
    Bond No. 9 Bleecker St.
    Guerlain L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme
    Xerjoff Uden
    Burberry London
    Chanel Allure Homme Sport
Parfums de Nicolai Cologne Cedrat or Cedrat Intense
Tauer L'Air du Desert Marocain (if used sparingly)
Basenotes sales: CREEDs (Vintage Tabarome, Royal Mayfair, Selection Verte, Erolfa and Neroli Sauvage), By Kilian Straight to Heaven, Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis, Bond No. 9 Hamptons, Heeley Oranges & Lemons, 17 Cuba Paris fragrances, L'Essence de Cerruti, Balenciaga Ho Hang Club, Reyane Insurrection, numerous popular SAMPLES! http://www.basenotes.net/threads/419...radis-SAMPLES!

Hi everyone, thanks very much for taking the time to make suggestions. There's quite a few to consider! The recommendations seem to be purely focussed on scents that are "safe", so am not sure which one of these might tick the other boxes that I'm interested in e.g. longevity, projection, limited use of synthetics). I'm not too keen to go for a really good "safe" smell if it only lasts 40 lasts mins, would it be possible to also touch on these other points when making a recommendation so I can get a better idea of which ones to try?

Just curious, where does one purchase Jovoy?

I'm curious about the answers in this thread, too. Some niche, some dept store. How do you know which the OP had in mind?

Lukyscent, Aedes de Venustas, MiN NY are three places that carry the line. As I have all in the line, felt that the one I cited would be best for him and least offensive.

i'm also currently seeking a fragrance with similar qualities, so here are my favs so far:

    sycomore
    timbuktu
    l'instant de guerlain
    egoiste (maybe not so safe)

also like terre d'hermes, but it doesn't meet your criteria re: natural ingredients.

Sticking w/ Lubin's Itasca. A very nice fresh/woody fragrance that lasts 10 plus hours on me.

I recommend giving YSL L'Homme a try. Nice and fresh with a great woody drydown.

Great list, and I love each of the, but I a not sure any of those are ones that I find safe. Each of them has a distinct powerful note or two could be considered love or hate, IMHO (and happen to love each, with the exception of TdH.

    Hi,

There were a lot of recommendations for Guccii Pour Homme II so I figured I'd try this one first. Just got delivery and my first impressions are it's really nice and smells great. But on the downside, longevity seems poor, only got a couple of hours from it at most
