I love threads like this. By limiting the list of favorites to only 3, it's really interesting to see what people choose. Sometimes, there are pretty obvious patterns, and that's cool. It gives a neat sense of each person's taste. There are some great lists here. Thumbs way up on all of these trios!

Completely agree about AHS! Just wonderful! Sad that my buying a bottle from a Basenoter fell through and he decided to keep it..can't say I blame him. Just need to bite the bullet and plunk down $85 for a bottle at Macy's I guess.

I think it's totally worth the $85. I wore it again tonight and just love it. Someone said earlier that Chanel Bleu is third but could easily be replaced. I feel the same way. I go in and out of favor with Bleu.

    Aventus
Tom Ford for Men Extreme (after spending many hours/days sampling at Sephora this was the clear favorite for me)
    Acqua Di Gio Essenza

I wanted to like Chanel Allure Homme Sport but the drydown is simply too sweet and milky for me. Swapped my bottle a long time ago. I came very late to the Aventus and Bleu de Chanel party and sampled both around the same time just a few months ago, and while Aventus blew me away from first sniff, Bleu de Chanel is something I'm still trying to decide if I might like. I really find it to be mostly grapefruit and a bit of incense to my nose. For a safe scent I would much rather wear AdG Essenza

I've thought about narrowing my fragrance collection down to just one, but I can't do it. Regardless of how much I love GIT, I couldn't wear it everyday forever. I always keep three in my closet as my go-to fragrances, which I feel is a decent number of scents to have in rotation. I think every gentlemen should have a few things in life: a well tailored suit, a nice pair of high-end dress shoes, a good timepiece, a good pair of jeans and boots, and three solid fragrances for which the man is known by.

Well, to be honest I find that L'air du desert marocain has a really complex and subtle structure, a wonderful evolution one should "follow" like you would do with a movie or a book... so it's like considering it not even "in the game" (I mean the game of naming your top 3). I love it so much I spray it sometimes mostly at home, to "live it" and enjoy it like I'd do with my favourite records. Putting it on then rushing in the subway, messing it with other people's and places' smells and scents, would feel almost "a crime" to me!

On the contrary, I find Incense Extreme still great, but a bit more "safe" and wearable, less complex, more simple and consistent.

(don't know if my point is clear, my English isn't great and perhaps not even my idea on the matter is clear enough )

Your point is very clear lol. So basically you consider LDDM above the top 3 . Wonderful description on how you feel about LDDM by the way.
