    Default Mailing list issues

So I just ordered a decant from The Perfumed Court, and then I get a confirmation in my e-mail box. With the order number and the order status.

On the bottom of that confirmation letter is an invitation to join the newsletter of The Perfumed Court. So I click on to that, and up comes

an invitation to join the mailing list of Surrender To Chance.

Somebody must have hacked into the System of The Perfumed Court and planted the invitation to Surrender To Chance.

    Like so, and I quote:

    "Sign me up (It's FREE!)

    Your email address: _______________________

Thank you for joining the Surrender to Chance mailing list. We look forward to keeping you informed of all the latest new releases, specials, flash sales and fragrant news! We normally only send out e-mails once a week or less, but always with a special deal, a discount, what's new in the store - the things you want to hear about!

    Confirm your email address:_______________________ "

I think that is unfair. Criminal, even. It takes a lot of nerve to do that.

Have you contacted the Perfume Court to notify them?

I wonder if they've joined forces? What did PC say when you contacted them? Might be wise to get some clear info so that S2C aren't unfairly implicated as "criminals."

Yes, I have e-mailed the owner of The Perfumed Court. She was unaware of the situation and will contact the computer expert to fix the hacked spot.

    Good work!

Below is some info I got from STC...

Hey, Mark. Thanks for passing that along. We have no ability or desire to hack into anything of The Perfumed Court, we have no association with that business now and haven’t for two years.

The contact list we use was mine before I became part of TPC, and stayed mine after we left, with TPC keeping all of the contacts to start their own mailing list. So if it was an old link we used when we were all together, it would be my current mailing list, which is STC’s. I would have assumed TPC would have changed all those links, but mistakes can happen if they didn’t check it. Again, we have no control over links on TPC’s site or in their communications.

I presume TPC is not alleging that we were responsible for this, it’s just someone’s assumption that someone must have hacked it with ill intent vs. it being a TPC error.

It is certainly most unwise to make allegations based on assumptions.

This seems to be the main concern then. A quick google search would suggest that this has been spread to other fragrance sites as well. Thanks for doing the research and clearing this up CapriDog.

I don't know the truth. This can only be set straight if it was indeed an error on the part of The Perfumed Court's System and by The Perfumed Court saying so.

It may not be wise to start threads accusing people of stuff without proof in future.

    We'll alter the thread title.

I agree, best to beware of making potentially libelous accusations.

Now that both parties, STC and TPC, know about this, maybe it's time to close the thread?

    Agreed.

This Forum is not a venue for making wild accusations.
