    Disclaimer****A bit of a long post, once I started I couldn’t stop****

I just wanted to start by saying how wonderful it is to have so many talented artist and musicians on this thread. FrouFrou best post ever! You are going to look like that badass matrix version of yourself very soon with all those zombies on your tail. I need to get on your Christmas card list for an Alpaca card. They are such characters and those adorable faces that look like a cross between a camel and a giraffe. And thanks for putting my name in fat letters, hehe

Jon LOVE the alpaca hair do’s, made my day! It's always a hoot to see animals rocking a mullet or ‘fro. I wonder how the one on the top right sees? Expressing my appreciation with birds.

ErinK loved yesterday’s autochrome and the coconut pics. You would love the country estate, so peaceful and the owner is also a very talent chef so the food is always spectacular. There was a phenomenal truffle triple brie drizzled with truffle oil honestly it was all I could do not to eat the entire thing myself. Btw I’ve had Yorkshire puddings served with lashings of butter and honey, it’s not quite the ‘done’ thing but there's no fighting deliciousness and I think the birds in yesterdays pic are little corella white cockatoos.

Mocha sorry to hear the shingles are still giving you grief, hope you find something that works soon, I completely understand about being disappointed about missing your performance, there are a few performers I’ve been trying to get to see for years . I love the menthol blast opening of Tuberose Criminelle (tiger balm anyone?).

Trilby Lark Book of Morman in on my list of shows to catch. I have couple more suggestions for you, not sure if you have tried them yet. Cuir de Lancôme, a sophisticated take on floral leather, in the same vein as Cuir de Russie, I prefer CdR has the leather has that bit more of a smoky bite. I wear a lot of ‘mens’ fragrances and find current Antaeus a wonderful an aromatic leather with hints of honeyed tobacco. The leather in Antaeus to my nose is ‘dirtier’ than in CdL, worn leather jacket vs. expensive handbag.

Fragrance porn for ExtremeK from the desk of X.

In Sartorial today, lurvvee the ‘gentlemanly’ vibe of this one. I can just image the remnants of this scent on a crisp white shirt collar or cashmere sweater…mmmm. Just throwing in some unrelated bedding porn too. I think I would scent this bed in M which is also my SotE. Surprisingly, a light application of M plays out beautifully in heat and humidity. It would also be fantastic on collars and cashmere. Lordy, the thought of which confirms that I definitely need to get out more otherwise I might take to guerrilla spritzing of M on unsuspecting strangers.

SOTD is a sample of Jardin d'Amalfi. I didn't like this the first couple of times I smelled it, but something told me to hang onto the sample. It's grown on me since then.

I love the shot of the lemurs! We saw 5 intertwined that way once at the Bronx Zoo.

Cold weather is back but it looks like the big storm initially expected for Wednesday will only be a minor event.

Off to ballet and barre this morning in vintage Prélude by Balenciaga. Y'all have a great day!

ExtremeK - safe and happy travels, and try to squeeze in a bit of fun, too ...such an awesome little city. You might have heard this already, but I left my ♥ there, once.

Excellent pics and post as always Jon - lemurs are so great. The Bangles are pretty cool, too - thanks for the fun start to the week.

Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan

    Hello everybody,
Grew up with The Bangles, too.
A brilliant day today - blue sky, 12 degrees C. I opted for an early departure at work - was in Miel de Bois - and am now sitting in the sun near my house wall - after a generous splashing, which was more like a washing, of Sous le Vent. How I love these early spring days. Nothing complements this better than Sous le Vent. My stock MUST last forever! A soda with freshly squeezed lime juice and I am set.
Hope your day is bright, too at your end!

Good morning! Windchill is 27 below zero this morning, so it definitely wakes you up when you go outside. Thankfully, there is only 4 more weeks of winter, can't wait for spring to arrive.

ExtremeK, have a good trip!! Also, I haven't tried Mazzolari Patchouli yet, but it's on my sample list. I'd like to try their whole line, it's a house you don't hear much about and that's a shame.

Mike totally agree with you about Shanghai. It's been on my wish list since I tried it back in 2012. It's by far the best of the Les Voyages Olfactifs line, in my opinion. I guess I didn't get sandalwood from it either, I'll have to try it again and look for it.

Jon, totally love the lemur picture, so cute!!

Wearing Lolita Lempicka Fleurs de Corail this morning.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning!

Xscent, you know me a little too well - honey and butter Yorkshire puddings, girl, you're speaking my language. I had a good giggle at the thought of you sneaking around guerilla style spraying unsuspecting bystanders with M. That mischevious bouncy smily, when used to full effect, is my favorite and you used it perfectly and it just cracked me up.

Safe travels, ExtremeK! Have a good time in San Francisco!

Today's a big day for me: I have been in a 5.5 year contract with my job and today my contract is officially up and I am a FREE AGENT! I also have some stocks fully vested today (my treat for sticking it out) so I will be curbing the impulse to buy every fragrance I have ever wanted to smell. I'm so excited that I can go where I want to go, do what I want to do now, without this job binding me anymore.

In Rose 31, and I do believe this day calls for a good dose of Evelyn...

Lol, no sometimes we have an occasional snow storm in April and even in May. I was referring to the first day of spring which is March 20th and hopefully it will be milder here by then. This winter has been so brutally cold that I just need something to remind me it's soon over and that spring is not too far away.

Temperate, bright blue, sunny skies, and no fishy smells from the wharf. Just fantastic, bohemian, lively SF. Evangeline, I've left my heart here a time or two also

A quick but BIG congrats to Erink -- well done, sister! Do give yourself at least a small reward; even honey and butter Yorkshire pudding would be awesome.

I'm getting ready to head into 5 hours of afternoon meetings, so a double tall vanilla latte was in order (always, with the vanilla -- yes, Xscent, perhaps I should try Eva Kant), along with a refresh of Daim Blond. But I wanted to post this, tucked away on mission Street -- it made me think of you, Jujy!

My feet hurt, dammit! And more kisses and gentle hugs for Mocha and George.

I took a fantastic DVD out of Redbox to watch with Mom and her caregiver-- we all loved it! Remember Terry Fator, the ventriloquist who won America's Got Talent? The DVD is called Terry Fator: Live in Concert.

Hugs to George the cat (with a sympathetic meow from my own cat, George)!

ExtremeK, my feet also sympathize. The clogs that are helping my left heel are hurting my right instep.

Hi Gary, good to see ya posting!
    Erin, congratulations for sure!
Jon, those lemurs are so darned cute!
Mike, vintage Brut with more radiance? That's got my interest.

Well, I sampled Shalimar recently and liked it this time, it was whatever modern one they had at the store. I have sniffed it before at the store but the citrus was harsh, overpowering, loud and was just a funky fume. I think it was in a different bottle though, perhaps the ribbed one, I have no idea. This time, the citrus was lighter, not as harsh and it had a pretty good, powdery, leather dry down. Now, I am interested in trying some more Shalimar concentrations, don't know where to start really but I would like to sample some.

Sotd, Armani Mania, was a fave, now it is just a like..it's plastic-y musky in kind of not a good way.

    Hey y'all -

I'm still in Balenciaga for the afternoon but I'm now in Sylvie's luscious Cristobal. I'm not exactly sure why, but I'm liking this a *lot* more than I used to ...I think it somehow became more lovely simply by being hers. ♥

Thanks, Frou! I'm so glad you like it, but that's Dovima in Balenciaga, same as my perfume ...naturally. This is another gorgeous shot from that same Harper's Bazaar editorial, photographed by Richard Avedon in 1950.

Wowee Erin, congratulations, indeed - how very liberating! So, where *are* you going to go, and what *are* you going to do?

I am in several layers of perfume as I have been filling sample vials to send around and I'm not sure now which is which and I can
    t really smell anything anymore......

    Good evening!

Thank you all for all of the congrats. It does feel great not to be bound by the contract anymore, but as for what I'll do next, I have no idea. I was supposed to have it figured out by now, darn it!

Xscent, thank you especially for that cake - it was absolutely delicious and you really, really *shouldn't have.*

Froufrou, better your socks, than your glasses. He and Rocky sound like they'd be two peas in a pod.

I am testing Timbuktu tonight, my second wearing of it. Upon application I grimaced and thought, "Erin, you knew better than to think you'd like anything incensey and vetivery, why are you doing this to yourself?" but lo and behold, I am starting to enjoy it. It strikes me as a scent Katharine Clifton might have worn in The English Patient. Especially in the campfire scene, telling the story about Candaules and Gyges, I can imagine she must have smelled just like this. Smoke, dirt, incense, myrrh, cardamom.

Hey, hey , hey….lots going on here, I see.

Mama Q, oh YES!!! Sofie's prom is April 26th, so Cindy & I will be in Chicago the 19th & 20th. I hope….hope….hope we can get some of my good basenote friends to meet my fragrance soul "sister", sister!

My SOTD was TM's Alien Liqueur. I'm on a jasmine "kick" of late, so I'm exploring more & more jasmine scents. I especially LOVE grandifloral jasmine. Since jasmine is on the IFRA chopping block, or so I've read, I want to really explore the note.

RHM jasmine is one of my favourite notes. ScentFan did a huge jasmine sniff-fest a little while, I think one of the great finds was Demeter Jasmine. My favourites that get a lot of play are Nuda by Nasomatto, Intelligent Nutrients Jasmine Absolute and Magnetic Scent Untitled #1 (freakin' gorgeous). Montale Jasmine Full was also a big hit. I could go on but it's so well covered in the thread my comments would be a bit redundant.

FrouFrou - your 'dog ate my socks' posted made me giggle. Not at the fact that...well...he ate your socks, but it just sounded so 'Dr. Suess'.
Foustie - I've never smelled Armani for Women. What's it like?
ExtremeK - I hope to spend more time in San Fran myself. It's such a 'romantic' city, in my opinion. Plus there's loads of cute guys I know who live there
kalli - just dive into the Shalimar pool. All of the versions are just so different. Please try the flankers too. Especially the 'Ode de la Vanilles', they're very well done
ErinK - it took my several years to like Timbuktu (and it's sister fragrance Dzonghka). Once it 'clicked' though I really enjoy it. It's not a typical incense scent, which is refreshing to me

Staying with the oud theme from this morning, I retried my sample of:

    Oud 27 by Le Labo

I found this sort of gag-worthy when I first tested it, when it was released. Talking about Jicky and 'sh*t', that's exactly how this one smells when you first spray it on. Wasn't it BN member Indie_guy who called this 'wood butthole' or something like that. But today, I applied lightly, and I'm enjoying this now. Weird how that happens, eh?
