I have Potion Royale Black and I'm wearing it as my scent of the day. A very classy jammy dark rose scent that has a slight peppery sweetness. Out of this you hints of leather, tobacco, woods with a dash of oud. And I have to say imo it smells really good. It also smells more expensive than it actually costs. Enjoy!

La Fumee Ottoman is incredible. I am sure your going to enjoy it.

If you get a chance to get ahold of La Fumee Arabie, it is the best of the three.

    Serge Lutens Chergui

I couldn't hold off any longer. This stuff smells so good. I will go through my decant in no time. I must get a sample of Ambre Sultan, and I'm considering putting in an order for Fille en Aiguilles as well. Although it's not near as good as Chergui, I've been looking for a good pine scent and it's pretty good. Is it possible that Ambre Sultan is going to smell even better than Chergui???

I have (had?) a sample of La Fumee Arabie, and I do remember liking that one a lot too - I only wore it once or twice, so I don't remember much - I will have to see if I still have it. Maybe I will need to hunt down a bottle of this stuff too!

Just ordered my birthday present (about 4 weeks too early, but who's counting?):

It's not in the Basenotes directory, unfortunately. Irish Leather is an herbal, slightly bitter, very dry combination of iris and leather. I'm usually not into dominant iris, but this stuff is quite a treat. Quite pricey, too, I'm afraid (160 € for 75ml EdP).

Also ordered another backup of Bel Ami (before most recent reformulation).

Indonesian Oud is a rather complex western oud - starts out strong with a clinical oud accord, but then mellows beautifully with the rose and myrrh coming forward in the heart with the oud being always persistent. Drydown remains enchanting... Without a doubt, this is oud focused... without being too avant garde, it conjures the image of a polished, well-grommed and smart professional . I am going to try wearing it to the office tomorrow, which i believe should work great.

Default Re: Today I bought: March 2014

a small coffret of samples from Olfactive Studios arrived today -- although these did not get great reviews here, I was still interested in their aesthetic and wanted to put my nose on them. So far so good. Autoportrait is the first one for me to wear, liking it. They seem a bit restrained compared to what is popular, but I tend to like fragrances in that fashion....
improving olfactory environments one molecule at a time....
