Default Fragrances inspired by geographic locations

    Has anyone done this before?

I would like to start a list of scents inspired by places and geographic locations.

    My list (some are common):

    From Les Voyages Olfactifs collection:
    Guerlain London 04

    Byredo Bal d'Afrique

    YSL Paris
    YSL Parisienne

    Guerlain Shalimar

    Chanel Coromandel

    Any more quick thoughts?

L'Artisan Dzongkha - a rapturous fragrance, inspired by the remote Buddhist mountain kingdom of Bhutan in the eastern Himalayas. Rich with aromatic influences Dzongkha tells a special story on every skin: that of Dzongkha itself, the spiritual language of Bhutan.

Diptyque Tam Dao - the fragrance was named for the Vietnamese hill station north of Hanoi. Tam Dao was established as a resort town during French colonial rule; the town is now inside of Tam Dao National Park and is a popular weekend tourist destination. Diptyque's Tam Dao fragrance was created by perfumer Daniel Moliere, and the notes include rosewood, cypress, ambergris, and sandalwood.

Diptique Do Son - Relief from the sweltering climate, a pagoda on the shores of Ha Long Bay, where trade winds tenderly caress the flowers. A name that sings, undulating like waves upon a beach. Do Son is an eau de toilette rich with contrast, exuding the fresh, intoxicating sensuality of tuberose.

Hermes Un Jardin après la Mousson: created in 2008, it explores the facets of an unexpected India, when the monsoon restores to the earth what the sun has taken, chasing away the burning breath of drought. Ginger, cardamom, coriander, pepper and vetiver speak of the rebirth of nature captured in Kerala, a universe engorged with water. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena.

L'Artisan Passage d'Enfer - The Hell is a way of passing the 14th arrondissement of Paris between the Boulevard Raspail and Rue Campagne-Première . It takes its name from the former name of the boulevard Raspail, Boulevard d'Enfer (leading place Denfert-Rochereau ). This is the last remnant of the name of Wood Hell bad reputation which covered this area in ancient times.

Notes: The above descriptions are directly from Diptique, Hermes, L'Artisan's website or found elsewhere.

    How about:
    Bal à Versailles
    Bond No 9 New Haarlem
    Avignon (and Zagorsk, Kyoto, Jaisalmer)?

Of course, a lot of brands will just stick 'Paris' or 'Other exotic name' on the bottle without having been inspired by those places per se, so it's a thin line ...

Hmmm, some of these are a bit tenuous. It's highly unlikely that Jean-Paul Guerlain was inspired by Derby the place when he made his classic men's scent ...

Puro and Puro Intense by Nejma - a line inspired by Christian Bousidan’s time spent in Havana and his enjoyment in the aromas of rum and Cuban cigars, scents of the sea and exotic climate. A magic moment was sufficient to inspire a line of perfumes that needs to reflects all of those wonderful aromas.

    Philosykos
by Diptique (descriptions from Diptique's website)

In the heat of a Greek summer, “to get to the sea,” recalls Yves, “you had to walk through a natural orchard of wild fig trees.” Returning from Paris, Desmond brought back a few leaves of these trees in a little box. Years later, the leaves had lost none of their fragrance. Philosykos, which in Greek means “friend of the fig tree,” is an ode to the entire tree: the green, pungent freshness of the leaves, the wood warmed in the sun, the milky flavor of the fruit.

Known to be the biblical home of Samson and Delilah, Tzora boasts a landscape saturated with lemon, olive and pomegranate trees. ^^ It is a real place, and it's in Paris.

Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan

Jean-Paul Guerlain was inspired to create the formula following a visit to El Djem, a Tunisian amphitheatre built by the Romans.
