Kumquat, agreed. Cats are like that "brain training" Luminosity purports to sell. They force you to work at outsmarting them.
ErinK, peepee is the highest form of flatter to a comic. So, I guess that's a thank-you. In the dog anal gland vs cat poop competition, well, there is no winner there.
Teardrop, I understand the car's interior is now coated in baking soda. Of course, I'm wearing black today.
Kalli, If I open the window will the baking soda will go swirling everywhere?!?
As Victor Meldrew, you're even cuter, Jon. After an exceptionally cold winter here, I'm a tad paranoid about the 70°F temps of California.

Condolences, RHM. Working with elderly takes a big, strong heart. Chuckling over the “Who the heck is this guy” remark regarding Gatsby.

It's departure and waiting day: Wait at home, wait at the Milwaukee station, wait at the Chicago station. That's okay, I've impossible crossword puzzles and my Kindle to ease the "pain."

I almost went with Shalimar today as I did at bedtime last night. It's a calming scent for me and makes me feel Mike's bear hugs. However, this morning I am well soothed by Jo Malone's reliable ol' Black Vetyver Cafe. It mellows me out the way I like to get mellowed. My honey says I smell good. I don't want to leave him. Whimper, sniffle. Can't get enough of his company and the comforts of home. What a dweeb is me.

I expect I'll get wifi access at some point, so I'll be checking in. At last count, our group for The Scent Bar this coming Saturday will include Matildaben, Knit at Nite, cestrum nocturnum, Trilby Lark, myself and my cousin, along with her friend (didn't want my poor cousin to be the only non-BNer--we're so intimidating, you know.)

Hello, everyone, and sorry for having been AWOL - Work has been insane and life only slightly less chaotic of late. The good news is that life is rich and full right now.

I hope to find time to go back over the thread and 'catch up' soon. Meanwhile, hugs to all!

Unheard of SOTD for me: *Day 4* in Chanel's wonderful Coromandel. Makes me feel exotic, classy, confident, and just a tad wicked. How great is that?

Coromandel notes include: Jasmine, patchouli, woody notes, amber, benzoin, and frankincense.

    Good morning, good smelling people!

Today in Keiko Meicheri Datura Blanche. Playing against type I guess as dressed dead professional but smelling like a late summer night party with dancing and tropical drinks, under trees heavy with flowers.

Finally get to read yesterday's SotD and dying of laughter at stories of smeary cat poop story and potentially defective canine anal glads. You guys are the best.

Quarry what a fine group of sniffing buddies you have assembled.

Cello, Mocha, ExtremeK and Danieq Chanel makes shooting porn easy, glad you enjoyed it. Danie Beige is a very elegant, easy to wear fruity floral. However, I know you like a bit o'skank and the honey does add depth but there's not much skank.

((ExtremeK)) gentle rub for your shoulder, take care. Seems we’ve been the in the land of the sick and walking wounded recently. Check your PM, it’s a dilemma.

((RHM)) sorry to hear the sad news. Hope the sleeping arrangement sort themselves out, I'm not sure I want to be on the wrong side of Princess Bella.

Mike hoping that A/C is back on. Your food descriptions made me hungry but I choose to eat chocolate instead of kale.

Jon I know a couple of Yorkshire men and even grumpy they're still sweet, can’t really miss with that accent. How hot is summer likely to be? I'm was hoping the UK summer would be cooler than an Aussie winter.

Teardrop you would love Perth perpetually warm, sunny and dry. We've had 110 days of no rain which ended last week with light shower that lasted all of two minutes.

Easyfish I have been meaning to mention that you always smell wonderful and today you're in another one of my favourites.

ComDiva you smell amazing that patchouli and cocoa in Coromandel is a very wicked indeed.

Dior Homme today. The iris and vetiver is so good together and I wouldn't mind this lipstick on guy. Taking my sniffly self off to bed, in Chambre Noire this evening.

Well ain't this a good smellin' bunch this morning!

Wishing you safe travels, Quarry. I know you hate to leave Mr. Q but you are going to have such a great time sniffing and playing. Can't wait to hear what you come home with!

Robin, adding Datura Blanche to to-sniff list. It sounds like a must-try! Xscent you smell wonderful and Tdem so do you!

Hehe, thanks, Jon. I'm not sure if it's better, but my couch has been thoroughly de-odorized. Yeesh, that's some gross stuff. OK, enough of that. I love the photo today! Gorgeous!!

Luckily I smell great, even if I can't say the same for my upholstery. In 28 La Pausa. It's so faint (I must have used 10 spritzes and still can barely smell it), but it smells so darn good.

teardrop, I will love to hear your reaction to Véga; I am wild about it. I get ylang-ylang big time, with underlying vetiver. It's an intoxicating and comforting duo. I may be a bad girl and wear this to surgery!

SOTD is Balahé, which has been getting heavy rotation. I think of it as a sweaty floral shot through with menthol, tuberose, leather, cumin, and civet; I ask you, what better to wear while practicing some Piazzola tangos on piano?

jujy; l am sorry to say l think that Vega is simply "pretty". lt's very quiet on me, & three hours after application it's almost gone.

Changed into Acaciosa for this evening.

l made a chocolate biscuit cake this afternoon that's now setting in the fridge, after seeing Val the Cookie Queen's recipe posted on Olfactoria's Travels last Sunday. lt's similar to something my mum used to make, that she called Belgian Biscuit Cake. lt actually requires no baking at all, it's so easy a child could do it, but the results should be delicious. The only hard part is keeping Mr teardrop away from the fridge until it's set.

The first time l tried Acaciosa was courtesy of a sample of the extrait sent by dear Sugandaraja, who l still miss around here. l subsequently got a little decant from STC which is dwindling fast. This scent just smells deliciously "golden" to me. l would love to get more, but l'm not sure if it's changed in the last couple of years?

Who knows with this topsy-turvy climate . The record high here was 38.5 C in the London area back in 2003 and I dread the thought of such conditions again.

A rough guide to my tolerance levels ...

    Under 15 C - bliss.
    15 C - 20 C - pleasantly bearable.
    21 C - 25 C - uncomfortable and increasingly unhappy.
    26 C - 30 C - Meldrew mode in full swing, miserable as sin.
Over 30 C - Living hell, on knees praying for autumn.

Teardrop, I immediately had to google "chocolate biscuit cake" and it took me a while to understand it. It looks like a cake-shaped chocolate fudge with cookies in it. Maybe this is just the baker in me but calling it cake seems like a misnomer...That said I really don't care what it's called, I would totally eat some.

Jon, that guy playing the guitar just blew my mind. That is CRAZY!!! I am the most elementary guitar player ever. It dizzies my mind to think of how much practice it would take to be able to play even 10 seconds of that.

One of my packages from NST swap arrived today, so I'm trying vintage Diorella, 80s edt. Very herbal and lemony and not at all what I was expecting. I'm lovin' it!

Mine was bought November 2013 from Phyto Universe in NYC. It's the extrait, very honeyed and bright. I love it. Here's a photo.

What do insomniac perfumers do to fall asleep? They count chypres!

Erin; l agree, cake is the wrong word for it really, but l don't know what else you could call it. lt's harder in texture than a fudge, almost like the texture of chocolate, but of course the biccies give it a nice crunch.

Thanks for the pic jujy, beautiful bottle!
