Default It's back! L'Occitane Eau de Vetyver

On a whim, I decided to pop into L'Occitane while running errands at the mall today and look what I found back on the shelf:

It's easily been several years since I last had a bottle of this stuff and I didn't realize how much I missed it until I sprayed some on today. Needless to say, I walked out with a bottle.

I just checked my bottle. My bottle doesn't say Eau de Vetyver Eau de Toilette. Mine says just Vetyver Eau de Toilette. Have they changed the formula at all IYO?

It's been about three years since I've smelled this stuff but IMO, it's the same juice.

I'm really happy it's back, and just in time for spring!

For those of you who pay attention to this kind of stuff, it's worth noting that the packaging is slightly different than my bottle of Eau des Baux that was purchased late last year.

The new Vetyver's cap narrower, is not stamped with "L'Occitane en Provence", and slides on rather than clicking into place.

That's good news. I will check to see if they have it at the store in my area at work.

It was in my local store a couple of months ago. I'll be getting a bottle the next time I stop in.

I had two different bottle designs of this one, and the differences were huge. One I would not wear and the other I would not consider giving up !

Good to know! Thanks for the info! I really like this one and am anxious to see if it is the same formula. If so, I might buy a bottle or two.

From what I remember, it smells like my last bottle from several years ago -- woody, herbal and a bit smoky while still smelling clean. The store near me had it for $55 for 100ml.

Certain versions of certain browsers, as well as the Tapatalk client, will sometimes "mirror" avatars and usernames down the page due to various errors. Mimi and I used to get this a lot, a few years ago, and I still see it in the Tapatalk client.

Try switching browsers, restarting your browser, or adjusting your Javascript settings.

Smelled this the other week. It's the same juice--an earthier Envy with the ginger replaced with nutmeg.

Whatever happened to Mimi? I haven't seen her around in quite a while. Hope everything is ok.

I got mostly hints of vetiver, I was hoping for something more literal. The main player for me was a dusty and earthy cedar with hints of leather and strong spice. A good fragrance, but not my cup of tea.

Congrats. I am still on fence whether I need this or not... Anyway its one of better masculine woody/spicy/vetivers. I just wish it lasts longer (I get about 4-6 hours on my skin)

I get about 5-6 as well which, for this kind of casual scent, is totally fine with me.

I love and own L'Occitane's L'Occitan and EDB but their Vetyver just did not win me over. It is reasonably priced at $55/100ml, but to me there was nothing outstanding about it. It smelled somewhat mediocre and dated. It's not that I dislike vetiver, as I love and own Creed's Original Vetiver and Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver -- both superior to L'Occitane's Vetyver, IMO.

This sounds nice, is this comparable to any other vetivers (smell wise)?

Last time I wore vintage I thought it was like an Envy for Men type scent with a vetiver note that emerges over time. The new formulation came across as an unwearable sticky/synthetic mess to me.

It reminds me a little like Carlo Corinto Vetyver but a more mild one.

While I very much enjoy the scent, for me the projection is non-existent and the longevity is laughable. I get about 2 hours of minimal projection, maybe 1-2 hours of barely skin scent, and then completely absent.

I've got a half bottle from around 2003. It really is a unique vetiver to my nose, especially since I've never smelled Envy. The major spice that fills in the crevices of the traditionally angular, rough vetiver is nutmeg. To me, it's a cooler weather vetiver.

Sorry for reviving the thread, but I just noticed my Eau des Baux bottle has a plastic cap and my Vetyver has a tin one? I doubt people would fake l'Occitan so is it old vs new packaging or are all Baux plastic and all Vetyver tin?

I have a tin cap for my EdB (bought it 2-3 years ago).

As for Eau de Vetiver, if someone is looking for another fragrance with a similar vibe, I can recommend Eau du Kashmir by Rituals. Quite similar actually.
