I have Shanaan - as an incense lover, it is quite good to my nose. I like it better than the CdG Avignon, which it is similar to - but Shanaan has a bit more "approachable" and warm quality, where Avignon is a bit colder and darker...

That Shanaan sounds interesting. Not too many reviews though and few mention that the longevity is not good (?).

Will have to test it myself.

Love the Aoud Homme. The Gardenia scent is pretty darn good - not a screaming white floral, but warm with creamy wood notes and dry vanilla base.

I have found (for me) that Shanaan has better longevity than Avignon, smells a little less "harsh", and was a better deal. And a MUCH nicer bottle They are far too similar for me to own both, although I love the CdG incense series. Shanaan is well worth investigating for anyone into incense fragrances. 5-6 hours easily on me with Shanaan, with wafts of it continuing longer than that.

I like Royal Vintage. I would like to try Shanaan since I am a big fan of Avignon

I just tried Shanaan today. It's pure flatout burning frankincense with some zesty lemony background. It does get similar to Avignon in the drydown. I think it's a better interpretation of smokey burning frankincense than Avignon.

Downside : Weak weak weak! Stopped projecting after 30 minutes and turned into a skin scent. Shame, because i really like it ....

I don't have much experience with this line, but one I tried that quickly won me over is Gaiac. Terrific winter scent!

    Aoud Gourmet.

Shanaan is a good one but has something in its dry down similar to an astringent nutmeg that last all the way.

Francolino or others, could you extrapolate on these two Micallef frags, esp. the Emir? Hard to sample Micallef in my region. Emir looks like the kind of ultra-masculine that could also work on the right woman. Thanks.

This reange is really too vast…I probably smelled no more than a dozen and liked Shanaan, Yellow Sea and Red Sea. If you're ok with sweeter stuff, Gaiac is indeed pretty solid and sort of a reference fragrance in its genre.

You might already know this, but this scent was originally under the label of G. Nejman, Micallef's husband.

    From another site:

"Geoffrey Newman, the husband of Martine Micallef, launched a collection of perfumes devoted exclusively to men under the name of G. Nejman. The G. Nejman Emir fragrance was introduced in 2009. In 2010, the fragrance was re-introduced under the M. Micallef label, Collection Exclusifs, as Emir. "

Top notes: grapefruit and orange. Heart: geranium, pepper and agar. Base: patchouli, cedar, leather and white musk. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Astier.

I own this under the first release which is nice and spicy with very excellent longevity and projection. Have also tried the new release under the Micallef label and smell no difference at least to my nose.

any good ones for summer ? More heat-driven scents? Or are they more oppulent and cloying in heat?

Although it's on the sweet side, Pomelos (N°22) works best in the heat.

It's more on the feminine side. If there was a grapefruit candy, it might smell like this.
