Default Best Cologne (EdC) out of the Bunch

    The bunch:

    - 4711 Cologne
    - Mugler Cologne
    - Bergamotto Marino
    - Neroli Portofino Eau Fraiche (technically its a 'body splash')

Summer is coming... Which one do you think is best?

Tough call - my memory of 4711 is nil, and I've not smelled the Eau Fraiche version of Neroli Portofino, which is definitely good in its most recent formulation, IMO.

I do like and own Mugler Cologne. But I LOVE several bergamot fragrances in summer, and Bergamotto Marino gets a lot of love, though I have not smelled it.

I would probably go with my existing Mugler Cologne, or buy Bergamotto Marino.

    4711 to me!
    My current top five:

    Etro - Vetiver
    Boucheron - Jaipur Homme
    Serge Lutens - Fumerie Turque
    Hermès - Equipage (vtg)
    YSL - M7 (vtg)

Of the bunch? I'd have to pick 4711 as that's the only one I know. If opening it up further then Neroli portofino (standard) would be my choice.

I have Bergamotto Marino and 4711 and both are good no great. I think ADP colonia is a nicer cologne.

But between Bergamotto Marino and 4711 , BM is the winner

Bergamatto Marino. I get at least 10 hours out of this one. Spring and summer gem.

They are all nice, I have only worn 2 of them 4711, have it and Mugler - (From a sample) but am familiar with Bergamotto Marino and am simply trusting on the Tom Ford one - If you are on a budget - Mugler or 4711 - if you have the money to throw at them then Bergamotto Marino or Neroli Portofino Eau Fraiche I guess (for me it often comes down to best bang for the buck)

Tough call but I'd either go for 4711 or Mugler Cologne...

Well you NEED more than one no matter which is the best!
I own, love and wear the Bergamotto Marino and the Mugler Cologne.

I did love 4711 once upon a time but I think current versions have been edited to the vanishing point.
Love the Portofino but I balk at the bucks.

NP is the only one on your list I haven't tried, but having said that I enjoy Bergamotto Marino the most.(however, it's sold out everywhere and may be discontinued )

Yeah, I noticed its hard to find now. I bought a large bottle just before it became extinct.

I consider NP Parfum too expensive. NP Eau Fraiche intrigues me as it can be bought for around $85 (236ml). However, being it is a splash, I just don't think it will last more than 30 minutes and I haven't heard feedback from others to dispel this belief. I'm considering buying the Eau Fraiche and a 10ml decant of the parfum and layering the splash with a few sprays of the original.

I'm not familiar with all on this list but I know that Mugler Cologne is a great fragrance for such a small price.

I like them in this order...

    1. Mugler
    2. Neroli Portofino
    3. 4711

...unfortunately, I haven't tried Bergamotto Marino, so I can't speak to that one.

Yeah, that's the one. And it is almost gone from everywhere. I enjoy my decant of it but finding a bottle may be impossible.

Never tried 4711, but I like Bergamotto Marino more than the others.

Still to be found at a reasonable price. I like NP a bit more for the yummy ambery note on the drydown, but BM is a fantastic, versatile fragrance.

In your set, Mugler. (outside of your set, I have favorite edcs like Chanel or Cologne sologne - though to be fair they are true edcs and don't last that long).

yeah, if we're opening this up to other EdC options, well then there's lots to choose from (example the Chanel one Cacio just mentioned)

The Chanel cologne has the best longevity and added musks that carry the citrus to the end. Spray liberally and enjoy!

None of them. Out of the ones you listed, 4711 is the closest to a traditional cologne in form though it uses horrific quality ingredients. For the same price, basically, try Roger & Gallet Extra Vieille for a dash of real, dry neroli, savory herbs, and light rosy florals from the good old days.
