So it was probably something mass market, something available at like Sephora, Macy's, etc. Strong presence of orange, but more masculine than Happy. sounds like it may be Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc/White.. although a listed grapefruit note, it smells more like orange to me. I've been smelling this on a lot of people lately, and last time I was at Sephora, it was up on their "best sellers" shelf, next to AdG, and 1 Million.

Artisan or the Lacoste or something else from Sephora. Maybe Allure Edition Blanc. I doubt the Hermes would last long enough for anyone else to smell it after leaving the house.

I tried on Etro Messe de Minuit the other day in Liberty - the orange in it really took me by surprise. Virtually no incense, but a LOT of orange.

Interesting... ! ...I sampled that one when it was first released and I really liked it, but I couldn't help thinking it smelled rather young. The guy in question was probably in his 50s. I didn't pay attention to what it evolves into though. I really should have. I only remember the top notes, because really, it's hard to get much more than that when sniffing in a store.

Orange? In Bleu? Fascinating! I think it's amazing how differently we all interpret what we smell. I mean, really, there are no wrong answers. What you smell is what you smell. I don't get anything orange in Bleu (it doesn't smell blue either, lol) but I'll give it another sniff.

It has bergamot, lemon, orange and grapefruit - and is kind of airy like you described, though not an aquatic but a bit on the ozonic side - to me.

It's not AHS. AHS is sort of gummy rather than airy, at least to my nose, and it has an almost candy aspect to the fruit. I've never tried AHS Eau Extreme though - or the sporty-man-scent named Allure Homme Sport Cologne Sport For Men. That could be it actually. I lol at that ridiculous name, but that could be it. Orange spice is not modern at all. It's very classic, some would call it 'dated'...

Yup! I jotted it down. I need to look into that one for sure. I have a sample of Solo Absoluto, but I've never smelled Solo Loewe. Looking at the notes, it could be what I smelled... but looking at the notes never really tells the whole story of what a scent will smell like. Could be though!

Ed Hardy Born Wild perhaps? My second favorite orange scent behind Orange Sanguine. The stuff is seriously good and pretty unique IMO...it has a very high compliment factor as well.(although not quite in Curve territory)

Pardon the pun, but that's a wild suggestion. I'd have never thought of it! I wonder if that's still around at Macy's to give a sniff. One of the Ed Hardy scents really impressed me, in a fun-to-wear sort of way, but I was an idiot and didn't write it down. Villain, maybe? I don't think it was Born Wild (and it was so long ago that I don't even remember what it smelled like).

I gave Bleu a better testing last night and - wow - you're right. I'm not a vetiver fan, so I'm guessing the vetiver in Bleu tricked my nose into ignoring a lot of the rest of what's going on in Bleu. I think I've now done a 180 on my impression of the fragrance. It's really impressive. The airiness of it is fantastic and it's very much along the lines of what I smelled.

I wonder how differently vetiver wears on different people. If the vetiver in Bleu were dialed way back... that's what I smelled.

Bleu without the vetiver... if it existed, I'd buy it!!! ...I realize that's blasphemy to vetiver fans and especially Bleu fans. Sorry!

There are lots of great suggestions in this thread.

Seems like Bleu, more than any other fragrance has the ability to change minds from the 1st wearing. I tried it in a store about 2 years ago - didn't care for it at all. 12 months later, I ordered a sample from TPC just for kicks since I was ordering so many other things. Fell in love instantly, and went to the store an hour later and purchased a bottle.

Surprised no one mentioned Heeley Oranges and Lemons Say The Bells of St. Clements - also a very good one IMO. but no powerhouse to be sure.

Try DR Harris Traditional Cologne for a cheap fix. Zingy orange oil with an animalic, powdery Victorian Era musk.
