Let's hope they get back on track. I do like the bottle.
Thread: Thierry Mugler A*MEN Pure Wood
I just received an email. The next 'Pure' mystery has been resolved. From the email...
"The untamed energy of nature collides with the refinement of A*MEN. A wild encounter, for connoisseurs only... A*MEN Pure Wood, bold seduction. Exclusive access on 7.15.14"
Let's hope they get back on track. I do like the bottle.
The bottle looks amazing. I hope that the juice is actually as amber-y as the picture looks like. The picture that they released for pure leather was very misleading. Now the scent itself...i dont think anything can be as big of a let down as pure leather was so I'm excited to catch a wiff of this one
looking forward to this
Working on updating my cologne wardrobe!

Looking forward to this myself!!!
I am anxious to try this one as well.
Maybe one could hope for an improvement in the spraying mechanism too with this release!

A new A*Men perfume.
It's interesting this perfume company is able to successfully make flanker perfumes based their successful perfume 'A*Men perfume for men'.
I think this perfume is going to be popular with the guys who liked A*Men perfume, Pure Malt perfume, Pure Havana perfume, Pure Coffee perfume, Pure Shot perfume & the rest of the perfume company Thierry Mugler- men's perfume line.

Really looking forward to this one. Hope I'm not as disappointed as I was with Pure Shot.
Looking forward to sampling this one. Hope it's as good as my favorite Mugler -- Pure Havane.
If your looking forward to A*MEN Pure Wood release follow the link posted by Meow7.
The hype train has left the marketing department.
Beauty is in the nose of the beholder.
Looking forward to sampling this one.

Anyhow, none of the good flankers ever get released in Australia. The specialist Mugler sales ladies in major department stores here are totally unaware that anything other than A*Men, B*Men and Ice Men exists. Instead, we have to rely on the odd Ebay seller to buy blind from.

I still think it's weird there's no sign of a Pure Coffee return. I'd probably blind buy that one.
Yay, 3 whole months of speculation.
If only they'd make it smell how it looks and not like a cupcake with 10 lbs. of frosting on it.
One that I want to sample...
Let's hope the fragrance is as good as the bottle.
I think it's going to be pretty hard to f this one up in all honesty. A wood-themed fragrance is about as safe as you can get and there is nothing wrong with that if it's done well. After a decline in mass appeal since Pure Havane this one makes total sense. I predict Pure Wood could be on par with PH popularity wise. Of course it will always have it's detractors no matter what, but we'll just have to wait, test it, and see if it delivers.
Short odds on this getting added to my Pure flankers collection...even more so since I FINALLY bought a full bottle of ATOF a few weeks back, after about 2 years of deliberating...!

High hopes this turns out well. I like the way TM does it's major releases.
Juice here looks more brown than orange like Pure Malt.
Pure malt juice looks a little bit more orange tinted.
Then again it's only pictures so who knows.
At least to me the bottle looks transparent.
I have a hunch it'll be a hype for a while, unlike for what happened to "The Taste of Fragrance" flanker.
Latest from Fragrantica site:
"Thierry Mugler announces A * Men Pure Wood, a new limited edition of its most popular men's fragrance A * Men from 1996, which will be released in June of 2014. The fragrance announcement promises: “The untamed energy of nature collides with the refinement of A*Men. A wild encounter, for connoisseurs only ... A*Men Pure Wood, bold seduction.“
The composition is described as an oriental-woody with a distinctive note of coffee. It is made of oak notes, coffee, vanilla, patchouli and cypress."
The notes sound great - can't wait to sample this one (and fingers crossed it's not the disappointment that Pure (P)leather was...!)
Cypress ? Well i'm less optimistic now because i don't usually appreciate that note in any oriental woody composition.
Cypress is the biggest reason why i just like Eau de Baux and not love it.
I still hope it will be good !

TOP 3 hot weather:
1. Gucci Pour Homme II
2. Lalique Encre Noire
3. Thierry Mugler Pure Energy
TOP 3 cold weather:
1. Dior Homme
2. Eau des Baux
3. L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme
This is going to be a must buy for me. I've been looking for a Coffee frag I like for ages. Oak (a true Oak note) is slightly vanillic (it's what gives dark rum its key flavours). And I'm a big Eau des Baux fan.
Let's hope it shows up on Muglers UK site.

Does anyone know if they're doing preorders or if you have to get it on day of release?
Here's to hoping it's smell isn't 90% identical another one in the existing line.

Two more months, two days and 19 hours before we can order from Mugler USA.
I'm thinking it will smell just like Bond's New Harleem
Probably amen that's been aged in oak barrels. So 95% amen with a hint of wood.
Good points, Dave & Tmoran
Dont get me wrong. I dont think pure coffee smells bad. But to me, the coffee note isnt really what I would call a true coffee smell and at that its way too fleeting. And as far as it being able to easily pass as niche? Sure I could see that. But I could many many fragrances in the designer world that could pass as niche. If there is one thing I have learned niche doesnt mean your good and designer doesnt mean your bad. If I started making perfume in my basement and started marketing it I would be a niche house. But that doesnt mean I would be able to hold my own against Le Labo or Nasomatto. If by it could pass as niche because of how far off the beaten path they decide to go when making a fragrance nearly nothing in the Mugler lineup could be considered commercial except their fresh flankers. So I would say in that respect the majority of the house could pass as niche. Still the term niche means less and less everyday except in a few localized areas IMHO.
