It is truly excellent, and even better in its vintage form. Still quite good now though.

It's a wonderful fragrance especially the original.

It's very nice. I wore Bel Ami Vetiver today and really enjoyed it. A caution does not smell like the typical cologne at today's department stores. My wife walked into the bedroom and thought it smelled a little like Polo. It's not a fresh aquatic scent. To me it's a classic manly scent.

The current regular Bel Ami scent is fantastic, maybe better than the new Vetiver version, but the Vetiver version is perhaps better for the warmer months.

If you're a younger guy, you may perceive this as an older guys scent. I would not argue against that. Just my two cents. I'm 46.

Is the current formulation deserving of a purchase? By the way some people talk up the vintage, it makes it seem like the reformulation is crap.

The current formulation is not as strong but it is nice, thought I personally prefer Equipage.

The vintage smells like your favorite worn leather jacket and then some.

I would think in a top 100 classic designer frags of all time contest , it could rank in the top 20 !!

It's damn good. Modern is very good, just does not hVe the longevity and "oomph" of the vintage

^^^ This. I find the vintage stuff to be overall somewhat of a different composition though. It used to be a dissonant lemony-leather but the current formulation is more of a woody oriental. As drseid noted though, it is still pretty darned solid.
