Default Amouage and Xerjoff in Chicago?

As my fragrance journey takes me further, I am ready to dip into some new houses. I have sampled everything you can sample at Barneys/Saks Fifth/ Neimann Marcus in Chicago. I'm having trouble finding any place where I can smell Amouage or Xerjoff. Other than Luckyscent, which I'm sure is what the answer is, is there a place in Chicago where I can smell either of these two houses? I'm interested in sampling quiet a few and those samples get pricey when you get a bunch on Luckyscent.

    Thanks!

A few years back, the Miglin store on Oak street had some Amouage. Though I don't know if the store still exists, or if it still carries the line.

Btw, Amouage has been reformulating at breakneck speed over the past couple of years-though it must be said more the feminine than the masculines, so you always have to make sure that what you smell is what you get. (ie if you smell from a sample don't assume it's the same juice as in the bottle).

Maybe give Neiman Marcus or Saks a ring.

To my knowledge, neither store carries them in Chicago.

When going to Chicago last October, I asked if either of these were available in the city and the answer was no. Xerjoff is only sold at Luckyscent, Min NY and Parfums Raffy in the US. Amouage is sold by more stores in the US but none of them are in Chicago.

Now that's just sad...we need our own ScentBar. I have to say...I'm a little jealous of NY and LA when it comes to niche perfume offerings.

Me too! You'd think we would have access to those scents somewhere in the city.

Hey guys, I have had no luck on finding niches to sample in chicago as well. However, there is one place i came across recently in northbrook court in the northern suburbs. It's inside the mall and has a standalone store on a corner near the middle of the mall...I forget the name but it is 'Fragrance something' or 'Luxury Fragrances'. Anyway, it is stock full of frags...everything from designer to niche to old/discontinued to ones I've never even heard of. The guy seems to be selling old or unsold inventory from other places. Buyer beware and do your research and check labels and quality of the juice and all that. I sampled a few creeds and the prices are cheaper than buying new..closer to amazon prices but at least you can look at batches and smell. He mentioned he can get me anything I want. The guy that was working knew his frags so if they don't have amouage or xerjoff, he can certainly get them for you. Worth a try. Go Bulls! DITKA1.jpg

It's surprising how hard it is to find niche fragrances here in Chicago. I was going to mention Aaron's Apothecary, but it seems like ChiTown23 beat me to it. There is also of course Merz Apothecary which carries a few interesting things. I think there's a Blue Mercury in Lincoln Park but I don't remember them carrying much more interesting than L'artisan Parfumeur. Speaking of that area, Luca Turin's recent reviews have me thinking I should head over to LUSH and check out their fragrances. I've never given them much mind, though I do find their mail order catalog peculiarly engaging.

you should definitely check Lush (is it still carried in Macy's in Chi?). Note however that the newest Lushes that Turin has recently reviewed (Kerbside violet, Smuggler's soul) are available only in Europe right now. I hope they will come to the US eventually. However, in the US stores you'll find some of the classics like Breath of God and Dirty.

They do carry LUSH at Macy's at Water Tower Place, but I would probably go to their free standing store on Armitage in Lincoln Park. I don't know that I've ever smelled any of their perfumes. I've stopped in their stores a couple of times but it's hard to really explore the products because the sales associates are clearly trained to hover over you and never give you a minute to yourself. At least that's been my experience... Nice people though, for the most part.
