Hell no-those ironic beards that young hipsters seem to find cool aren't. Lose the man bun too.

I grew a beard in college because I was sick of everyone telling me I looked like Toby McGuire (which I never understood). A beard has been a staple for almost 15 years now. I wish it was a little thicker, but no one has called me "Spidey" in a long time, so that's good.

I've shaved it two or three times, but people at work make a big deal and tell me I look like a child, so I always immediately grow it back. I jokingly call it my beard of shame (a great Lagwagon song, for any punk rock fans).

Absolutely. Why would you want to look 50 years old when you're 20?? Plenty of time for that when you actually reach 50.

I have only ever had a BEARD beard once or twice, but I could not tell you the last time that I was clean-shaven. The trimmed beard just suits my face.

I have quite a closely trimmed beard (a fair bit longer than stubble, but not what I would call bushy in the slightest) - I love it. As I hurtle towards my mid 30s small flecks of grey are appearing which my partner seems to love.

I don't have a beard but I do have a moustache. It takes balls to go moustache only!

Having a trimmed beard is quite popular right now. Whenever I shave, I look like a 19-year old who just hit puberty. It's crazy the difference a beard can make.

    Default Beard or no?

I love a beard... on me.. when i am clean shaven i do look much younger i feel naked for some reason the most of the times i rock a 6/7 days beard.. my record is having a 2 months beard... and had a lot of compliment from women.. but it makes me look aggressive and older... but i still love it makes it sophisticated.

It also depends if you can have a solid beard.. if you can wear it and if not.. keep it clean

I hate the fact that i have shaved it.. i feel better with it.

    Cheers

I came across a new term yesterday and had to Google it. Apparently these dudes in the tartan shirts have a new name...Lumbersexuals!

Lumbersexual - a young urban man who cultivates an appearance and style of dress (typified by a beard and check shirt) suggestive of a rugged outdoor lifestyle.

No, it makes me look old. Some like it and say it makes me look distinguished or whatever, but I don't want to look 20 years older. Clean shaven most people think I'm 10 years younger than I am.

I always have stubble though, I never shave as my skin gets too irritated.

The trendy beard thing will be over soon enough!

Exactly. It depends utterly on the individual.

I used to have a beard on my 20's to look older, but it itches and after a few years of maintaining it, I went into a clean shaved face since.

There's nothing nicer than a nice, soft, fluffy beard

My better half stopped shaving after being fed up with irritated, itchy and breaking-out skin (and believe me, he's tried everything). The itching when growing it out stops after around two weeks; he's still shaving his neck, and trims his moustache and beard every week so it looks well-kempt. His beard is 2 inches long max - he works in an office as a manager and it doesn't look out of place when he dresses smartly.

As for people saying beards are icky and scruffy - well, that's more a reflection of the individual than the facial hair itself. It goes without saying that it should be washed every day like any other body part, and after messy meals such as hamburgers, hot dogs etc.

Acqua di Parma, Burberry, Tom Ford, Jack Black and smaller, independent companies make beard oils which condition and fragrance the hair. It doesn't have to be expensive though; one of the best ones we've found is Garnier's Ultimate Blends Coconut Oil. It's inexpensive, smells good, and lasts forever because you only need a little.

Hmmmm, no, it doesn't. I've seen quite a lot of women with full moustaches too.

If I could I would, but it's patchy, wispy even.
It's probably for the best because I don't think it would work for me like it does most actors.

Beard or no beard? It's like comparing coffee and tea. Personally i love having a beard and looks good on me.. without a beard i look like a child. It all comes to your personal preferences if you like it and can have it grow a beard, if it grows like p*bic hair.. get rid off it. Some people look better with or without. Also.. never ever shave/grow a beard based on what other people say especially your GF they have to accept you for the way you are. Enjoy..

I vote no to beards too. At least if you're planning on kissing anyone. They can look ok, though most men look better without, but they don't feel nice.
