A*Men will last through a work day. Not that i would want to smell like that for a long day, but it will make it.

If "quality" isn't a requirement, than anything you can find at the supermarket.
    My current top five:

Tiffany - Tiffany for Men (vtg)
Yves Saint Laurent - M7 (vtg)
    Fendi - Theorema
    Chanel - Antaeus (vtg)
    Gucci - Gucci pour Homme

Pretty much anything in the Deodorant/Aftershaves sections, such as Denim or Axe, which also do "fragrances". That stuff lasts for weeks. I was just sticking to the topic: powerful and cheap - none mentioned quality.

    Lyric Man

Brut Dominant - will give up to 8 hours (at least I get that)
Heavy Application of Adidas Ice Dive will give 5-7 hours
Sung Homme - pretty much an all day one
Cuba Red - decent longevity, nice "comfy" scent
Agua Brava - decent longevity I think it lasts longer than the wearer thinks it does

It has been my experience with blue collar type guys that a good "manly" smell on other guys is fine but coming to work smelling like you are getting ready to go on a date all the time may be a little much, so keep that in mind and save the "good stuff" for the ladies or your S.O. and actually a lot of women also like the scents I just listed and everyone of them is inexpensive so within anyone's reach and none smell "stuffy" or like a "rich guy"

If i where in this line of work i'd most likely wear Fahrenheit. I also was friends with someone who's dad was an Iron worker and everyone used to call him the nice smelling man. he wore PS design on a daily basis. He was an older gentleman but everyone always said he smells so good. I ended up buying that fragrance when I was in my early 20's. unfortunately I didn't get that feedback. They all said I smell like old spice. this leads me to believe the man makes the fragrance...not the other way around.

Actually many standard designer brands are available in Supermarkets in UK. This week I have seen Le Male and many others in Tesco.
    Can't speak for USA though.

Kouros would act more as camouflage than fragrance for the sewer plant worker.

Curve yellow bottle is very affordable and smells nice and you can get it at Walmart, Target etc. don't let that discourage you, all my friends love it on guys for some reason.

Any old school 1980s powerhouse fragrances. Those tend to be longevity & projection bombs. My father worked in a packing plant and my uncle worked as a truck driver back in their day. There signature fragrances were respectfully Fahrenheit & Ted Lapadis Pour Homme. Both those scents are very strong.

Perhaps another suggestion to the already great recommendations above: Preferred Stock, a lasting, both rugged and maturely elegant powerhouse, while easily available both in retail and online at very good price, its quality stands above its going rate, making it a good value buy, as well as with a good skin development.

Great suggestions so far. +1 for Amen/Leau d'Issey/LeMale

Will also add for great, long lasting cheapies:
Cuba Prestige(cheap and great AMen clone)
    Cuba Gold (great LeMale clone)
    Animale Animale
    Thallium
    Hanai Mori HM
    CK One Shock
    Diesel Plus-Plus
    Nautica Voyage
Perry Ellis 360 Red, 360 Black and M
    Mont Blanc Individuel
    Iceberg Twice
Also anything from the Bogart house, I have Silver Scent and Silver Scent Intense and both are super long lasting.

Three+ sprays of Amouage Interlude Man - that will outlast a full day in the sewer plant, for sure.

Kind of expensive for that sort of job, though, so I'd recommend cheapie powerhouses. Drakkar Noir, Salvador Dali Pour Homme, Kouros. You can buy these all for under $30 and they last all day. Some of the suggestions above surprised me - you probably don't want to smell like lemon cake or a dainty flower when working in construction or sewer plant - you want something BIG and BOLD, an old school powerhouse, from when fragrances were made to fill a room and almost choke everyone in it. Those are the only ones that will stand out to the environment you described, heat and sweat, and last a full day with ease.

These are all great colognes but DEFINETLY not for blue collar workers, there wayyyyyyyy to expensive for that,it'll be like throwing good money away, now I would wear those after work but DEFINETLY not going to work...

Surprised no one said this yet:

Lush - Dirty (the body spray)

Don't go too heavy on the trigger and you will get all day longevity plus the mint should help keep you fresh in that line of work. Cheap too.

I would add Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme to the list & +1 Azzaro Pour Homme.

My ol' man as welder, (stinking of soot, scorched fabric & roasted skin) has sworn by Brut his whole life.

I enjoy Azzaro PH immensely, but I can't see how people are recommending it as an all-day wear. Maybe in vintage form but definitely not the current version. Agree with Kouros (even current) and Rive Gauche PH.

I'll also throw out Chanel Antaeus. Kind of straddles the price line (not exactly cheap but not super expensive either). I'm guessing some may not think it fits your line of work, but in my view it's certainly an all-day scent and very masculine. Gets a bit powdery in the dry down but you may want to get a sample. I've seen it recently at Nordstrom. Good luck.

Man I envy your concept of "economical", lol.

However +1 on any '80s powerhouse, most of them are still cheap today.

Tiffany - Tiffany for Men (vtg)

    Gucci - Gucci pour Homme

This whole thread is a joke right? I was just playing along.
If you work at a sewage treatment plant then you will be perpetually covered in the smell of boiling feces. You probably have to shave your head constantly because it soaks into the fibers of your hair. You should not bother wearing anything.
If you are doing actual construction work you are going to be covered in dust and sweat so dont bother there either. You are probably going to get made fun of for showing up in the morning wearing cologne also. I would never stop busting your balls.
