Maybe something from Frederic Malle?
Still trying to find something for Summer/Fall, considering these. Im young, 20, and have not fallen in love with GIT or Aventus. Any help with these or any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe something from Frederic Malle?
Personally would side with SMW. Himalaya is pretty ho hum.
Current favorites_____Black Tourmaline_____Gucci Pour Homme II_____Memoir Man_____Tuscan Leather______Montale Aoud and Pine_____Sel Marin_____Invasion Barbare_____Tonka Imperial____Dior Homme Intense_____L'Humaniste____Santal 33_____Bois d'Argent_____Nio_____MFK Oud_____Lumiere Noire_____Bois d'Encens_____Cuir Ottoman
OV or SMW. Do a skin test and see what suits your nose.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
OV is my personal recommendation.
i just smelled all three on sunday for the first time. SMW didn't do it. Himalaya and OV were pretty decent. They are the first two creed that I think I could wear.
Out if those three I would go with SMW. Honestly though I'm not that big a fan of any of them. I just think you could get a better fragrance for the money.
For me, in order of preference, based on scent alone, it would be OV, SMW and Himalaya last. Though, I'm not sure OV would be good for fall wear, so I'm leaning towards SMW for year round use. I think OV would be better as a spring scent. Himalaya is a soapy boring-ness IMO.
Plus Comme des Garcons, Slumberhouse, etc., - you could check out the Splits Board here to see what's popular.
There are plenty of things out there better and cheaper than those Creeds. For summer, perhaps try Frapins amazing L'Humaniste, a beautiful, fresh and aromatic fragrance with citrus, juniper, gin & tonic, light spices, oak moss and a beautiful and ethereal floral note. Terre d'Hermes is a modern classic that will do well in both summer and fall. If you want something a bit more unique and avantgarde, Comme des Garcons is a line full of affordable and amazing masterpieces, and they have several gems for every season. Good luck exploring he world of fragrances, there are many wonders and suprises once you look past the usual suspects and the hype-machine monsters.
“To defeat an enemy you must know them. Not simply their battle tactics, but their history, philosophy, art.”
My preference in this order: Silver Mountain Water ............................ Original Vetiver.............Himalaya.
I own all three , but my favorite is OV, then SMW, then Himalaya. If you want something similar, to OV, you may want to consider Gendarme, Neroli Portofino, or Mugler Cologne.
Of those you mentioned, OV, but I prefer Millesime Imperial, and Erolfa for warm weather.
Own all three and like all three, but prefer Original Vetiver

Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
I love Himalaya and Original Vetiver. For me, SMW is borderline scrubber.
Current Spring Favorites:
1. Creed - Spice & Wood
2. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
3. Dior - Vetiver
4. Clive Christian - 1872 for Men
5. Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver
6. Ermenegildo Zegna - Haitian Vetiver
7. Les Nez - Turtle Vetiver Back
8. Tom Ford - Rive d’Ambre
9. Creed - Green Valley
10. Parfumerie Generale - Grand Siecle Intense 7.1
My preference, in order: Silver Mountain Water, Original Vetiver, Himalaya.
If I had to pick from the three, I would pick SMW. Himalaya is fine, too, but OV is too close to Mugler Cologne (at a fraction of the price).
As others have said, don't just limit yourself to Creed. Order some samples of a few other niche summer scents before you decide (I second the recommendation for Frapin's L'Humaniste).
Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young,
How come I'm never able to identify where it's coming from,
I'd make a candle out of it if I ever found it,
Try to sell it, never sell out of it, I'd probably only sell one
-"Stressed Out", Twenty One Pilots
All three are solid, however I always get tired of Himalaya and SMW always gets tiring.
For me SMW.
My all time favorite:
I don't like SMW. Have not smelt Himalaya. Only have OV so I'll go with that.
Of the 3, I'd pick Original Vetiver.
None of them is outstanding and a couple I dislike... Himalaya by default, though I also recommend looking at other options.
