Thread: Gourmands

    Default Gourmands

Ok I've starting out into niché fragrances. I am big into Bond No. 9 and love New Haarlem & Manhattan (dark, complex). Started with every Thierry Mugler fragrance love Pure Malt. Going to get Tobacco Vanille and Ambre Narguille.

    Any suggestions on others?

Slumberhouse 'Ore' is an unusual one.

If you like the smell of a bakeshop, sample Chocolate Greedy by Montale. For a cheaper version, check out Choco Musk by Al Rehab (less than $5 for the roll-on)... it has a very similar vibe with an excellent longevity.

Also check out 1270 by Frapin - sweet with touch of nuts, fruity, and boozy.

Serge Lutens does gourmand well. I'd say Jeux de Peau (caramel, immortelle, woods), Arabie (bitter liquors), Bois vanille (vanilla, woods)

Endymion by Penhaligons is, in my opinion, another great niche gourmand.

I would also say Un Bois Vanille and also check out Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo - Mandorlo di Sicilia

Mancera Aoud Café, there is no oud in it

It smells really natural with realistic dark roasted coffee beans with other notes (Top notes are peach, black currant and bergamot; middle notes are amber, floral notes and coffee; base notes are white musk, sweet notes and woody notes.)
    ***My favourite from my collection***

    -------- Amouage Tribute Attar
    ------ Serge Lutens: Ambre Sultan
-------- Les Exclusifs de Chanel: Sycamore
    ------ Amouage: Fate Man
    -------- Amouage: Epic Man
------ Tom Ford Private Blend: Noir de Noir
    -------- Terre D'Hermès Pure Parfum
    ------ EDP FM: Carnal Flower
    -------- Neela Vermire Creations: Trayee
    ------ Dior: Leather Oud
    ------- Hermèssence: Ambre Narguilé

I'm going to echo the votes for Un Bois Vanille as well. Great stuff! I thought I didn't like gourmands until I tried it.

If Ore by Slumberhouse is to be considered a gourmand, than that one!
    My current top five:

Tiffany - Tiffany for Men (vtg)
Yves Saint Laurent - M7 (vtg)
    Fendi - Theorema
    Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille
    Gucci - Gucci pour Homme

Two of the very best are Aomassai (roasted coffee, caramel, hazelnuts, wenge wood) and Coze (hemp, cativa, coffee, patchouli), both by Parfumerie Generale.

That's interesting, I've never thought of Coze as a gourmand, on me it's a dry, ashtray-like masculine woody-ambery-smoky scent.

holy smokes, this sounds like perfection for me. Those notes are incredible

I looked it up and it seems it's unisex. Does it have a more feminine vibe to it or does it work very good on a man?

Oh yes, it is all that on me too - dry and dark. But the notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and pimento sort of qualify it as gourmand, no? Plus it has that dry hashish or pot smell as well, and smoking pot leads to munchies, or so I've been told
