Default Similar to CdG Wonderwood, but better performance?

I had a thread earlier that veered off course from making a decision, to scrapping everything for Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. (Funny how that happens.)
I'm still interested in picking out a wood dominant scent.

I really like the composition of Wonderwood, but it does seem dull after about an hour, unfortunately.
Longevity is good, but I can barely smell it after about 90 minutes.

Is there anything out there worth looking at like Wonderwood, possibly better that I can actually enjoy wearing for more than an hour?
The price of this product doesnt match the performance IMO.

    Woods I Own:
Gucci Pour Homme 2003 - Cedar dominant, nice.
Abercrombie Woods - Lavender, musk, touch of vetiver. Clean

    Woods I've tried:
Comme des Garcons Wonderwood - Starts out awesome, fades fast.
Encre Noire - Not really wood, more vetiver, a little strong for me.
Chanel Sycomore - Not for me, unfortunately.

So, as you can see, I dont have a lot of experience with WOOD fragrances, but I enjoy a quality composition.
Ones I've heard tossed around Basenotes:

    Creed Bois du Portugal
CdG 2Man (Similar to Gucci Pour Homme?)
Dsquared - Rocky Mountain Wood - (Worth it? A&F Woods is already Lavender dominant?)
    Diptyque - Tam Dao
    Any more?

Im interested in hearing of your best wood experiences.
Im open to any suggestions for sampling.

    Thanks!

You must try Tam Dao EdT for a more woodier experience of light sandalwood and heavy cedar; EdP for a rich and creamy sandalwood. If you're looking to roll in some pine needles, give Slumberhouse Norne a sniff. For more woody/amber fragrances I enjoy DSquared2 Potion and Sonoma Scent Studios Winter Woods.

2 Man...I LOVE...everyone knows that, but it's more than just a woody fragrance. For me, it's all about the snuffed waxy candle accord and incense.

    Hope this helps.

Amouage Epic Man and Montale Dark Aoud are two that I find similar to WW.

Sandalwood based fragrances are typically close to skin but last long. Sandalwood attars strangely DO project well.
Rocky Mountain wood is a Cedar dominated scent and I get good projection from it.
Kenzo Jungle is a very woody scent but it has a Mace topnote which smells like Biryani or Kabseh, but that disappears after 15 minutes.
Lorenzo Viloresi's Sandalo is also a good fragrance.

Agree on Dark Aoud. Very nice fragrance and very long lasting

Another enthusiastic vote for Tam Dao.

well if you're specifically going for something like Wonderwood, which to me reads as a peppery smokey dry dark wood scent... then I would check out Armani Privee Bois D'Encense, Marc Jacobs Bang (not sure the longevity is any better), Amouage Memoir Man, and a few others from the CdG line since it's sort of their 'thing' so maybe the incense line (black bottles) or the wood line (red bottles), or something like CdG Black, etc. I'm picturing things more along the lines like your Gucci PH with the dry incense, pepper and woods. To me Tam Dao is too warm, almost oily or nutty and fresh. I'm picturing charred wood here.

oh and for the record, I have some Wonderwood and it's not a powerhouse but I get a pretty fair wearing out of it...

Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads

Thank you to everyone who responded.
    I'll look into some samples.

I sprayed Gucci Pour Homme 2003 on my wrist last night, what a pleasant experience!

Another nice wood is Dsquared Potion. Light incense which is a little brother of Gucci Pour Homme IMO.

While I'd be reluctant to say they smell the same as ww, the oud accord and the sandalwood do connect all of these scents in my mind.
Not similar to ww but you may also enjoy Oud Wood. I'll add another vote for Tam Dao too. There are many other CdG scents that do woods, including hinoki, sugi, sequoia.
    Just say no to oniomania.

I second the mention of Oud Wood above. That's kind of become my go-to wood scent for daytime wear, when I'm not in the mood for something more daring.
